Parramatta Park will become the new home of Tropfest, the world’s largest short film festival, in a three-year deal aimed at securing the long-term future of the iconic Australian event, Environment and Heritage Minister Mark Speakman said today.
The move to Parramatta will allow the 25-year-old festival to expand and attract a new and broader audience.
“Parramatta Park is an impressive world-class heritage venue that will create an exciting new home for the festival, and the decision to hold Tropfest for the first time on a Saturday night will also allow more Sydneysiders to enjoy the show,” Mr Speakman said.
“Greater Western Sydney, now home to more than 2 million people, has seen extraordinary growth in recent years and is still growing – Parramatta is a great place for a major event like Tropfest.”
Tropfest will be held on Saturday 11 February 2017 at the Cattle Paddocks, a four-hectare festival setting in Parramatta Park.
Tropfest Jr will be held on Friday 10 February, in The Crescent, Parramatta Park’s natural amphitheatre, as part of The Crescent Live program over summer.
Tropfest founder John Polson said a partnership with Parramatta Park offered the festival greater opportunities and security for the future.
“As Tropfest continues to grow it has become apparent we needed somewhere we could expand and take the festival to a wider audience,” he said.
Member for Parramatta Geoff Lee said Tropfest was a perfect fit for Parramatta Park.
“Parramatta Park is a world-class destination that will cater for growing audiences while delivering a memorable experience for festival-goers,” Mr Lee said.
Tropfest is free to attend. Parramatta Park is easily accessible by public transport.

سيصبح باراماتا بارك المنزل الجديد لمهرجان تروبفست، وهو أكبر مهرجان للأفلام القصيرة في العالم، في صفقة لمدة ثلاثة أيام والتي ستهدف الى تأمين المستقبل على المدى الطويل لهذا الحدث الاسترالي الشهير, كما قال وزير البيئة والتراث السيد مارك سبيكمان اليوم.

يعتبر سرطان عنق الرحم ثاني أكثر أنواع السرطان انتشارا لدى النساء. ويصيب هذا المرض 470 ألف أمرأة سنويا بالعالم, ويتسبب بوفاة 288 ألف امرأة. ويصيب هذا سرطان عنق الرحم غالبا النساء في مرحلة الاربعينات والخمسينات. والمسبب الاساسي لسرطان عنق الرحم هو الورم الحليمي البشري والذي ينتقل عبر العلاقة الجنسية.
وافضل طريقة لاكتشاف المبكر لهذا النوع من السرطان هي القيام دوريا بعمل مسحة عنق الرحم, حيث يتم أخذ خلايا من عنق الرحم ليتم فحصها بالمجهر. ومن خلال مسحة عنق الرحم كذلك يمكن اكتشاف بعض الاصابات الفيروسية لعنق الرحم.
وينصح الاطباء النساء بالقيام بمسحة عنق الرحم سنويا ابتداء من سن 18 إذا كانت متزوجة, او ابتداء من الزواج. وتقوم المرأة بمسحة عنق الرحم كل عام حتى تظهر نتيجة المسحة طبيعية لمدة ثلاث سنوات متتالية, وبعدها تقوم بإجراء المسحة كل ثلاث سنوات على الاقل. وينصح بأن تستمر المرأة في القيام بمسحة عنق الرحم طول حياتها, حتى بعد انقطاع الطمث.
اذا كان سن المرأة يتجاوز 70 عاما وقامت بمسحة عنق الرحم ثلاث مرات متتالية وكانت النتائج الثلاث طبيعية, ولم تظهر اي نتيجة غير طبيعية في اخر 10 سنوات, فيمكن ان تتوقف عن إجراء مسحة عنق الرحم.
وإذا كانت المرأة قد خضعت لعمية استئصال كلي للرحم, أي اذا استئصل الرحم وعنق الرحم معا, لا داعي لإجراء مسحة عنق الرحم, اما اذا كانت قد خضعت لعمية استئصال الرحم دون عنق الرحم فعليها إجراء المسحة.
ويجرى هذا الفحص بطريقة بسيطة وسهلة, حيث تستلقي المرأة على ظهرها ويتم اخذ عينة من عنق الرحم عن طريق اله بسيطة جدا وتوضع على شريحة زجاجية وترسل الى المختبر.
Translation - English Pap Smear
Cervical cancer is considered to be the second most common type of cancer in women. This disease affects 470,000 women per year, and is responsible for the death of 288,000 of them worldwide. The infection occurs in women, mainly in their forties and fifties. The main cause of cervical cancer is the human papilloma-virus (HPV), which is transmitted through sexual intercourse.
The best method for early detection of this type of cancer is to regularly get a Pap smear done, where cells are collected from the cervix and examined under the microscope. Through the Pap smear discovery of other viral infections can be found in the cervix.
Doctors advised women to get a Pap smear annually starting at the age 18 if they are married or have just entered a marriage. Women must get a Pap smear every year for three consecutive years, if the results are normal. Then they must repeat the test at least once every three years. It is recommended that women continue to get Pap smears throughout their lives, even after menopause.
If the woman exceeds 70 years of age, and has had a Pap smear for three consecutive years and obtained three normal results. And she did not get any abnormal results in the last 10 years, she may cease to get Pap smears.
If a woman has undergone a total hysterectomy, there is no need for getting a Pap smear. But if she had undergone a hysterectomy without removal of the cervix, she must still get a Pap smear.
This test is quite simple and easily carried out. Women lie on their back and the sample is taken from the cervix using a simple instrument. The sample is then placed on a glass slide and is sent to the laboratory.
