We wanted love that was intense but not consuming. We wanted to be cared for, thought of, and valued, not abstractly, as men often value women, but in the accumulation of daily minutiae that make life dense and intricate and worthy of infinite consideration. We were seeking in men what we were seeking in ourselves, a combination of strength, diversity, commitment, passion and sensitivity, seeking an equivalent humanity. | Translation - Arabic
أردنا الحب الجارف اللامدمر. أردنا أن يهتم شخص بنا، أن يفكر بنا، أن يقدرنا، لكن ليس بمعنى التقدير المجرد للمراة الذي يفهمه الرجل، بل في تراكم التفاصيل اليومية التي تجعل من الحياة مزدحمة و متشابكة و معقدة و تستحق مراعاة لا متناهية.
كنا نبحث في الرجال عن الأشياء التي نبحث عنها في انفسنا:خليط القوة و الاحتلاف و الالتزام و الشغف و الرقة.
كنا نبحث في الرجل عن طبيعة إنسانية مكافئة لطبيعتنا. |
