Source text - English Cross takes the snap. Fades back into the slot, looks down the field, finds his man...
Oh! For the touchdown!
Not bad. And here I thought this whole genius millionaire thing was just compensation for being the last one picked in gym class.
The last one picked? Actually, that was Kenny Paderno. Heard he's a hedge fund mogul now.
So, what about you? What's this whole savvy Power Woman thing compensation for?
Oh, I don't need to compensate. I network. Which is why I am so happy that the new buyer for the Soeng Group is a woman.
So they're interested.
China is busy buying everything else in the world. Why not our quantum dot technology?
Well, if they can keep us from being financially dependent on Ken Leeds and his government lunatics.
Let me, uh, show you how it's done. Excuse me.
Let's see what you got.
I'll call Soeng first thing in the morning. You can, uh, keep working on your passing game.
Keep working on my passing game, huh?
Hey, Ange! Go long!
Come on, that was right in the numbers.

Shh!
Do you think it's still open? The anomaly?
I think that comes under the heading "accept the things you cannot change."
You're not worried about it?
It's on the list, somewhere.
What else is on your list? Besides the obvious.
Well... if it is closed... what happens if we get stuck here?
Can you grab the wire from the first battery, please?
Yeah.
Thanks.
You mean, if we had to spend the rest of our lives here?
Assuming that's longer than today.
Well, first of all, I would need you to use the parts of this plane to build some kind of Einsteinian TV that could pick up Oilers games.
I was thinking more along the lines of the time-stream aspect.
Oh, you mean how it would affect history if archaeologists were to find a 50-million- year-old DC-3?
Or how it would affect things if children were born here.
Evan Cross, are you propositioning me?
I'm a scientist. I'm just... running scenarios.
Aw, forget it, hoss. There isn't enough prehistoric vodka in the world to make that happen.

Source text - English Reebok Classic and Sandro collaborate on a Pump Fury capsule collection For SS15
Reebok Classic has teamed up with Parisian accessible luxury brand Sandro on an inaugural capsule collection for SS15. The collection centers on Reebok Classic’s iconic Insta Pump Fury, fusing the distinct but complementary design attitudes of the brands to create two limited edition styles for both men and women. The collection’s simple yet bold aesthetic, features strong lines and first-class design details.
Debuted in 1994, the InstaPump Fury quickly made a name for itself as one of the most directional looking and technologically advanced sneakers in the industry. The silhouette has since garnered cult status and is a firm favorite with fashion and trend hunters. The Reebok Classic x Sandro collection draws inspiration and design references from two influential decades- the ‘70s and the ‘90s- adding up-to-date details through the use of technical materials.
For women, the spirit of clubbing inspired the Black/Major Purple InstaPump Fury, looking to the ‘70s for inspiration in a modern and minimal way with delicate details, subtle color blocks and a luxe material finish. The White/Wicked blue women’s InstaPump Fury fuses a sporty feel with an edge of both femininity and luxury. The theme is further embellished by bright red and yellow color infusions for a subtle ‘90s feel.
The men’s collection draws inspiration from the 90’s, capturing the retro futurism and technical achievement that revolutionized the sneaker world with InstaPump Fury’s introduction. Each shoe has a sportswear foundation and structured silhouette, which is refined though simplicity of design and the use of premium materials to produce a daring yet elegant design.

English to Chinese: Katrantzou's CV Translation/Translated in 2014 General field: Other Detailed field: Certificates, Diplomas, Licenses, CVs
Source text - English Katrantzou's graduating show in 2008 mapped out her signature style. It was themed around trompe l'oeil prints of oversized jewellery featured on jersey-bonded dresses. Mary Katrantzou's first ready-to-wear collection debuted at London Fashion Week in spring/summer 2 009, with the support of the BFC and the New Gen Scheme. Despite a small collection of nine dresses, Katrantzou picked up 15 prestigious stockists including Browns, Joyce and Colette. The designer achieved show status the following season, in Autumn Winter 2009. She now boasts over 250 stockists in 55 countries ranging from Joyce and Colette to Selfridges and Barneys.
In 2010 Mary was awarded the prestigious Swiss Textiles Award.工n November 2011 Mary was awarded the British Fashion Award for Emerging Talent: Womenswear and in February 2012 was awarded Young Designer of the Year at the Elle Style Awards. She was also nominated alongside Stella McCartney and Christopher Kane for Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2013.
As well as producing a second collection for high street giant, Topshop, in 2012, Katrantzou has also collaborated with Atelier Swarovski on a jewellery collection and worked with Couture house Lesage on her AW12 and SS14 collections. February 2012 saw the release of her much anticipated collaboration with Longchamp creating a capsule collection of their signature bags and totes. Other collaborations include a range of Denim with Current Elliot, and a collection of ski and outerwear with Moncler. Mary has also been a longstanding partner of the Swarovski Collective since 2012 and has recently started a shoe line with Italian shoe designer, Gianvito Rossi.
Mary's thematic collections began to revolve around an icon of luxury, an object from art or design that a woman would not be able to wear if it were real. Past seasons have seen collections inspired by vintage perfume bottles, the interiors of old issues of architechtural digest, objects of Art, postage stamps all while keeping the printed image central to her aesthetic. While more recent seasons have referenced footwear, symbolism and the alphabet and have expanded her range beyond digital print. Resort 2014 marked Katrantzou's first Resort offering, with prints inspired by the black and white landscapes from her controversial Autumn Winter 2013 collection, turned seasonally into full bloom.
Autumn/Winter 2014 prompted a real shift in direction and was her first step away from print, taking her experiments with fabric development and textile innovation to a more refined level, incorporating colour and pattern into her designs through other mediums and referencing print and colour instead through embroidery and fabric construction including beautifully crafted Swiss lace, hand woven jacquards and embroidery. Autumn Winter 2014 also saw the release of the much anticipated handbag line, with the MVK bag set to be Katrantzou's signature style for seasons to follow. Resort 2015 continued Katrantzou's exploration of textile innovation, focusing on the concept of typography, with letters reinvented into glitter flocked chiffon, woven jacquards and brocade and intricately worked into tulle laces.

Source text - English NARRATOR
December 21st, 1968. NASA’s Apollo 8 mission. Led by Commander Frank Borman, it was the first manned spacecraft to reach the moon. Completing ten lunar orbits, the astronauts captured some of the best images ever seen of the lunar surface. The photographs showed the moon to be pockmarked with thousands of large craters, evidence that suggested to some that the moon had once been the site of violent volcanic activity. But modern evidence shows that there was another, perhaps much more significant reason for the moon’s numerous craters, massive asteroid impacts. Asteroids that may have also bombarded the earth.
DANA ROHRABACHER
That’s not the man in the moon. Those are the craters in the moon. And over the history of the moon, and the history of the world, there’s probably been many more objects that have hit the earth than have hit the moon. Now, the only reason we don’t know about them on the earth is that we have vegetation and we've had an environment that has covered up and actually made them less detectable.
CHRIS YEVCAK
BARRINGER METEORITE CARTER
We’re standing today on the edge of the Meteor Crater, a very famous meteorite impact site in northern Arizona. The crater was formed approximately 50,000 years ago when an asteroid approximately 150 feet in diameter came speeding through the atmosphere at about 26,000 miles per hour. It impacted the ground with a force equal to 1,000 Hiroshima bombs. After the impact the crater was all that was left behind. And the crater as it stands today measures about 4,100 feet across, roughly 2 ½ miles in circumference, and about 550 feet in depth. That’s equal to having the Washington Monument placed on the floor of the crater, and the top of the monument would be level with the surrounding rim of the crater itself. So if an event like this were to occur in a very heavily populated area such as New York City, we estimate that the area of loss of life could be up to ten miles.
DANA ROHRABACHER
In June 2002 something happened that should’ve been a wakeup call to all of us. Ah, an asteroid about the size of a football field actually passed between the earth and the moon. It was about a third of the way to the moon. We didn’t even know it was there until after it was already past us. If it would’ve landed in the Pacific, could’ve wiped out Southern California with a tsunami. Here we have something of such destructive power passing so close to the earth and we didn’t even know it was there ‘til it was already past us. Ah, we can’t let that type of danger go unnoticed in the future.
DONALD YEOMANS
One of the most recent actual damaging impacts of an asteroid with the earth took place on June 30th, 1908 over the Tunguska Region of Russian Siberia. An object about 30 to 40 meters in size came into the earth's atmosphere and the pressure of the atmosphere on that small asteroid on the front side was so much greater than the pressure on the backside that it pancakes and exploded about ah, four miles above the earth’s surface. It leveled trees for 2,000 square kilometers. It’s a very uninhabited region, so no one was injured. But ah, it did kill some reindeer, knocked over trees and caused a great deal of damage, ah, something on the order of five megatons of equivalent energy, which is roughly 385 times the energy of the Hiroshima event at the end of the World War II.

English to Chinese: Empire of the Vineyard Flyer/Translated in 2015 General field: Marketing Detailed field: Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
Source text - English A well-tended vineyard perfects the quality of a wine over generations. But its micro-world is a battleground, an animal empire fought over in hundreds of tiny dramas every day.
As dusk falls over the vines a hedgehog family creeps out between the stones of a limestone wall, grunting on their nightly forage. They’ll not disturb a vineyard snail - cracking that shell is too tiresome. But a huge, pink elephant-hawk moth - that’ll be a real treat!
An eagle owl swoops from the forest to snatch voles between the vines, then flies 200 meters further to prey on the ducks in the river. The owl shares its territory with a buzzard, that only hunts during the day.
A European green lizard flashes the flamboyant blue of its neck to impress the females, as it basks on the limestone walls not far from a smooth snake. These natural enemies share the same predators. Which will survive? Which, caught unawares, will perish?
European and Asian ladybugs swarm out of their underground colony beside the vine after sleeping though the cold season. The vine police, they will eat thirty to sixty lice, spider mites, and moths’ eggs a day, while their cousin, the tiny 22-spot ladybug, feeds on the mildew and molds that threaten all the creatures of the vineyard.
Young rabbits play in the morning mists, under the watchful eye of their mothers and the lazy gaze of the buzzard. The irresistible smell of fresh vine leaves tempts does out of the bushes. Two are in fawn. Now, in April, the fetus starts to grow again – after pausing during the winter – and the appetite of the does greatly reduces the grape yield.

Source text - English Faye Lau is twenty five, pretty, smart, of Chinese origin and studying at a Liberal Arts college in the US. She was moved to the States at the age of eight, to live and be schooled, after her mother and brother died in a car accident.
Her father, a businessman, remained in Hong Kong to take care of the family enterprise. He still dotes on his daughter, talking weekly on the phone, but always felt that America would offer her opportunities she wouldn't otherwise have had.
She's being looked after in America by her guardian, Carina Chen (late 40s), a trusted confidant of her father and both a life-teacher and friend to Faye. Faye's life in the US - her college, her friends, her world - it all seems set.
Until the day Carina interrupts class to tell Faye that her father has passed away and she must return to Hong Kong immediately for the funeral
The funeral is a grand affair and Faye is still struggling to come to terms with her father's death when a hit squad attack and a massive shootout erupts. She discovers that Carina (who she always reckoned was something of a pen pusher) can prove herself to be a bad ass - both in twin gunplay and unarmed martial arts as she protects Faye and helps her escape from the onslaught.
This is when Faye learns the truth about her father, and about her family.
He wasn't a businessman - he was the boss of a large crime organisation; an organisation that's been in her family for generations, and Faye never suspected a thing.
She learns the horrifying truth that her mother, her brother...they didn't die in a car crash - it was a hit. That's why Faye was moved to the US - for her own protection, with Carina as her bodyguard.
Her father too was assassinated and now Faye, terrified, wants to return back to her old life in America. But her father wanted her to take over the family business. It's his dying wish and she's torn; she realises that her father had been planning this for years; that Carina has been teaching her for this role - he just never expected to die so soon.
She starts to understand that all the extracurricular activities Carina put her through - the physical training, the martial arts, the applied psychology (and ability to read and understand body language)...it was all for this. It's put to the test when two armed men attack Faye and she successfully defends herself - an action packed sequence where she shocks herself with how capable she has become - even if the second attacker gains the upper hand only for Carina to appear and put a halt to proceedings. Carina reveals this was a final test and although Faye didn't totally pass, Carina feels she's ready enough to step into her father's shoes.
And that's a prospect that terrifies Faye.
With the organisation in disruption there's chaos and violence erupting with rival gangs. Faye needs to take control and calm the situation and maybe then she can hand the business on to someone else...but there lies the central mystery to the show - who killed her family?
Because it's a world of honour and ritual it's also a world of lies and twists. The only person Faye can trust is Carina because anyone close to her father could have been responsible for his death.
There's her father's advisor and right hand man Donald Cassidy - 40s, suave, handsome; someone who can introduce Faye into the glitzy and glamorous world of Hong Kong society - the neon drenched nights and the high class bars. He shows her how her life might be, how seductive power is, but he's got a volatile, unstable edge to him and his seductive nature might hide a much darker side. But would he havecrossed the line to killing her father?
Or Uncle Bo, her father's oldest ally in his 60s; Uncle wants to take control and tells Faye that she has no training for this, that it is a dangerous life, and he wants to protect her from it. But he's lived in the shadow of Faye's father so long… did he finally make a move for power in his twilight years?
Claude White - early 30s, British, you could mistake him for a young Clive Owen; He's the hitman of the organisation - philosophical, obsessed with the iChing, he was always meant to be her father's bodyguard but was posted missing when the hit occurred.

The older generation says that a three year’s apprenticeship is required to become a barber. Techniques such as shaving, picking and pinching take lots of practice and observation. Like in many other handicrafts, barbering also requires a calm mind. From high officials to common people, from the oldest to the youngest, once the cape is wrapped around their neck, they are simply a customer. The barber must be neither humble nor pushy. Cutting, clipping, shaving, trimming, washing, every process must be done orderly. The barber must not let the customer's social standing affect his work. While cutting hair might seem like a trivial skill, it is critical to the customer. A lack of prudence and sincerity will cost a barber his job.

In the early years of the Qing dynasty, hair-cutting was carried out by the military. To promulgate the hair-cutting decree, the Qing court organized special barbers and named them “Daizhao”, as officials of the ninth rank. The court furnished them with professional tools including the hair-cutting shoulder pole, which featured a copper washbasin holding warm water placed on a small furnace on one end and a box stacked with hair-cutting tools on the other.

This shoulder pole was specially made by the court and was not featured anywhere else in the country. Hair-cutting was free at that time. This piece of leather was used to sharpen razors, and an imperial order is inscribed on it which says “Keep the hair or die”. The shoulder pole has a “front” and a “back”. This is a special feature which bears additional meaning.. The end with a washbasin is the “front” and symbolizes the Dragon, the other end with a stool is the “back” and symbolizes the White Tiger.

Chinese to English: "Handicrafts: Yuejue Sword" for CCTV International Channel/Polished/Translated in 2015 General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Cinema, Film, TV, Drama
Translation - English V.O.
Yuejueshu is a fantastic book full of mystery from the ancient times. The Yue-state sword-making master, O Ye Zi, was said to have made five precious swords, Zhanlu, Chunjun, Shengxie, Yuchang and Juque for the King of Yue in this book. These five swords made their mark in the Warring States Period as incarnations of Ghosts. However, after the Qin dissolved the six states in 221, advances in technology meant bronze weaponry was soon totally replaced with iron weaponry. This transition took place in the state of Yue 2500 years ago, the territory of which largely overlaps present-day Shaoxing City of Zhejiang. The following words still resonate with meaning in Shaoxing.

The patterns glitter like moving stars, the luster springs forth like flashing water, the edges tense like a towering cliff, the material shines like melting ice.

I would start grinding with 240-grit sandpaper, then with 600, 800, 1000, 2000, 3000 till I got up to 5000-grit sandpaper successively.
V.O.
Currently, from coarse grinding to accurate grinding, 16 processes need to be completed, which usually takes around 10 days. But it took a much longer time to finish grinding the first sword made with the sand mould, and the result was very disappointing.
Sound Bite
Once ground, the defects were exposed.
There were too many air holes.
By no means could this pass for a sword.
V.O.
Due to the loose texture of the sand, the density of the rough sword was so low that it couldn’t meet the requirements of a bronze sword at all. Zhu Liyao had to resort to the metal mould again.
Sound Bite
The key problem with using metal moulds was that at such high temperatures, the metal solution produced pigmentation when it reacted with air.
V.O.
The speed at which the metal mould conducts heat is lower than the rate at which the alloy solution cools. When the mould is still expanding with heat, the alloy solution has started to contract at a faster speed. It’s this intense conflict that leads to the generation of plenty of oxidizing slag and air holes. It even causes the rough sword to crack.
Sound Bite
This is fine copper with a 99.9% copper content.
It’s made in Pingshui, Shaoxing.
V.O.
In the field of modern mechanical casting, in most cases, the copper to tin ratio is controlled at 10:1. This type of bronze-tin alloy is known as low tin bronze. But in order to forge a bronze sword with both inflexible and yielding qualities, Zhu Liyao boldly attempted to use high tin bronze, with a tin content of 18%. In fact, the techniques Mr. Liu and Mr. Jin mastered are considered low tin bronze casting techniques. Yet, Zhu Liyao didn’t know then that what they were trying to realize was actually beyond their capabilities.

Generally, it takes 8 steps to make a Jewelry Dragon. Making the keel, building the frame, installing the gearing, designing the display stands, installing the figures and props, binding the bamboo canes, attaching the embroidered cloth, and finally, adorning the dragon with papercuts.
It usually takes three men half a year to finish a Jewelry Dragon. The complicated processes begins with making the keel.
A selected piece of camphor wood is flexed moderately into an arc makes up the keel of the Jewelry Dragon. Simple as it looks, this piece of wood lays the foundation of the whole process.
Upon completion, the Jewelry Dragon can weigh as much as several hundred kilos. The keel supports all this weight. According to the need, the local moso bamboo is planed into batten and strips of different sizes. The larger-sized bamboo batten will be used to build the frame, while the smaller bamboo strips will be used to fasten the pavilions. The construction of the frame is the second step of the process.
After several hectic days, the Jewelry Dragon frame is beginning to take shape. The next step won’t begin until the frame has dried slightly off and become fixed.

Different from the plain and bold northern style, Yueqing thin line paper-cut features a delicate style. The knife is used to its utmost. The pattern is rich but neatly arranged. As many as 50 thin lines can be carved on one inch of paper, each as thin as a human hair.
The Dragon Boat Flower on the Jewelry Dragon is a culmination of the paper-cut. Various folk patterns including opera figures, flowers and birds appear on every part of the dragon lantern. The exquisite detail and the beauty of the hollow dragon are self-evident.

The main tools for paper-cut is oil plates and cutting knifes. The oil plate is placed under the paper so as to chisel out the outline and remove the superfluous parts. An oil plate is made from a 40 by 30 cm wooden plate and oil sludge.
Oil sludge is made by heating and then battering ox fat and pine pollen.
After cooling down, the oil sludge should not stick to the blade. The cool sludge is flattened and smoothened. The cutting knives are specially-made pointed slant knives about 0.35 mm in thick and 5 mm wide. Each knife has different function. Over a dozen knives are used to finish one complicated paper-cut.
After the tools are prepared, Lin Shunkui begins to make the frame. Each pattern is moistened and stuck to the backing paper on the wooden plate before it is smoked with an oil lamp. When the paper dries off, the original pattern is peeled off, and the template appears. The template and hand-made paper are attached to the oil plate, and the carving work can begin.
The number of sheets of paper placed under the template depends on the craftman’s skill. A beginner can carve five to six pieces of paper at a time, while the skilled craftsman can carve around 20 almost identical pieces at the same time.
