The Department of Rapid Transit Systems held a press conference at their South Depot, on the arrival of the Circular Line cars to Taiwan on the 12th, when the Circular Line opens to the public you can transfer to the Airport Line at the New Taipei Industrial Park, every carriage will be equipped with a special luggage storage area, the whole design shows Italian craftsmanship. The Circular Line's first stage of development is already about 75% complete, projected to finish towards the end of 2018.
Hitachi Rail Italy was given the responsibility of manufacturing the Circular Line trains, one train will be comprised of 4 carriages, the carriages will be in the interconnected design, the perpendicular seats allow the aisles to be a wider 1.2 meters, with a capacity of about 650 people. Eric Chu says once the Three Rings Three Lines project is complete, it’ll only take 20 minutes from every district to downtown, New Taipei City Metro Network will exceed 100 kilometers, more than 100 stations, besides serving 4 million citizens, it’ll extend it’s reach to 667 thousand of Taipei’s downtown citizenry.
Circular Line trains are the type with steel rails and steel wheels, the length of the train is about 68 meters, the train body is comprised of lightweight aluminium alloy to keep the weight of the train down, in the interior of the carriages the seats are arranged perpendicularly, adding to the wideness of the carriage’s aisles, each carriage has an aisle all the way through, allowing passengers the added convenience of being able to pass through, the front of the train is at a streamlined 20 degree angle, bigger windows let more natural light in, with ergonomic seats contributing to the passengers level of comfort.
New Taipei City’s Department of Rapid Transit Systems has stated that the Taipei Metropolitan area’s transportation network is being planned, with Taipei City being the center forming a radial circle, in the future after the 8 metro lines in total that will form the first stage of the Circular Line, switching between metro lines without having to go into Taipei’s center, from Banqiao to New Taipei City Industrial Park will be about 12 minutes, Dapinglin to New Taipei City Industrial Park will be about 20 minutes, substantially shortening travel times.
