Rachel Chiganer is a Brazilian former paediatrician and periodontist whose love of language persuaded her to make a career detour. This led her to an exploration of new cultures and the ties that bind them. She lived in Spain and the UK whilst studying Spanish and English, and successfully completed both the TOEFL and IELTS qualifications (at Cambridge University). She has elements of English, Portuguese, Russian, Austrian and Polish culture in her background, a diversity she believes is helpful to her work as a translator. She works efficiently with SDL TRADOS and is always looking to add to her linguistic qualifications. She is eligible to work in Europe. Her current focuses are translations of general-interest texts and scientific treatises and is graduating as a Simultaneous Interpreter.
