Although I was born in Brazil, my very first language was German because my father was born in Germany and his mother tongue became our home language. As a consequence I lived all my childhood in a German community. I have always studied at bilingual (Portuguese/German) and trilingual (Portuguese/English/German) schools and have improved my English with a native teacher.
I also attended Language and Literature at Universidade de São Paulo (USP), one of the most prestigious colleges of Brazil. Other languages I have knowledge of are: Spanish, French, Italian, Latin and ancient Greek, which are very helpful in the translations I make.
I am 50 years old and I worked for 10 years in the Import/Export area, managing a department for at least 5 years. During the last 21 years I have been working as a translator and reviewer.
At the beginning, I worked for a translation agency as a free-lancer. Afterwards I started working by myself having already gone through almost all fields of knowledge – commercial, legal, technical, scientific, informatics and marketing areas as well as literature and psychology. Although I am capable of translating in almost all areas of expertise, I started to get specialized into health care area 17 years ago.
I translated all kinds of technical material within a variety of Medicine branches until I started working mostly with Cardiology material, including surgery procedures, equipment and device manuals, and new techniques orientation. In non-invasive Cardiology, I had the opportunity to get trained during different times on a diversity of procedures, equipments and devices. Currently, I have been working for some health care companies as well as other companies that I cannot name due to confidentiality issues. For one specific company I have been working for the last 8 years as an in-country reviewer.
