Dear Mr. de Borxa González Tenreiro,
I am interested in becoming a Spanish to English reviewer and post-editor of academic texts for your company. I am primarily specialised in the areas of history and literature.
I have been working as a freelance translator from German into English for the last two years, and I recently completed a Master’s degree in Translation Studies with German and Spanish at University College Cork, Ireland. I am a native speaker of Hiberno English, which closely resembles standard British English.
After graduating from Trinity College Dublin with a first-class honours degree in European Studies, I chose to pursue a translation internship with Max Grauert GmbH in Reinbek bei Hamburg, for whom I now work. This position has involved translating a wide variety of texts from German into English using the CAT tools MemoQ and Across, proofreading and rewriting texts translated into English, and giving and receiving feedback to and from other employees. I am highly punctual in delivering projects, very organised, and take pride in my work.
While my professional experience thus far has centred on translation from German into English, I chose to brush up on my Spanish skills within the context of my Master's degree. The module Advanced Spanish Translation involved translating from Spanish into English and vice versa, comparing different translated texts with the original, and analysing texts for translation errors. This module focused mostly on literary and theatre translation, which makes it directly applicable to this position. I also completed a Spanish translation project on a scene from the play “Solo son mujeres” by Carmen Domingo. My excellent grades in both these modules testify to my high standard of work, my outstanding comprehension of texts in both Spanish and English, and my exceptional proofreading skills.
My academic background and professional experience have ensured that I am highly capable of producing consistent and accurate texts, which I am certain would meet the high standards set by englishpanish. I look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Yours sincerely,
Sonja Rohan |
