Source text - Arabic "عسل أسود" هو الفيلم قبل الأخير لحلمي، الذي قدم مؤخراً عملاً يحمل عنوان "بلبل حيران"، ولم يعول عليه النقاد الكثير، غير أن "عسل أسود" شكل نقلة متزنة ومختلفة في حياة أحمد حلمي من حيث ربط واقع الشباب المصري بما يحدث في المجتمع الدولي بأسلوب خفيف، قارب المبالغة في بعض الأحيان.
يروي الفيلم حكاية الشاب "مصري سيد العربي"، القادم من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بعد غياب عشرين سنة عن مصر، يحمل معه أحلاماً وصوراً وردية عن المجتمع المصري، غير أنه يواجه واقعاً مراً، بسبب جواز سفره المصري، فيقرر إحضار جواز سفره الأمريكي عل الأمور تتغير، غير أن هذه اللحظات تشكل واقعاً مريراً عليه، خصوصاً في ثنائية التعامل بين الجانبين الرسمي والشعبي.
يصل "مصري" في منتصف الفيلم إلى مفترق طرق، فيقرر الاهتداء إلى الذكريات التي عاشها سابقاً، فيعود إلى منزله القديم، ويقابل أصدقاءه القدامى، ويعيشون أوقاتاً سعيدة، يحوال أيضاً من خلالها إعادة جواز سفره الأمريكي الذي فقده في إحدى المظاهرات المعادية لأمريكا، من أجل العودة إلى ما يعتبره وطنه الجديد، والخلاص من هذا الجحيم.
وقد لا يحتوي هذا الفيلم على مشاهد كوميدية كغيره من أفلام حلمي، إلا أن هناك مجموعة من المشاهد الطريفة، والتي تمس الذات الإنسانية في الوقت ذاته، كالمشهد الذي يستنكر فيه "مصري" العيد في أمريكا، فوالده كان يقدم له "العيدية" في كل عيد حتى يصبره للحين العودة إلى مصر، غير أن الأب لم يعط "مصري" العيدية في أحد الأعياد، ليدرك الأخير أن لا رجعة إلى مصر بعد اليوم.
الفيلم يظهر من جانب آخر الاختلاف الثفافي بين مجتمعين، فعندما يسأل مصري سائق الباص الذي أقله من المطار عن أجرته، يجيبه الأخير بالقول: "خليها علينا يا أستاذ مصري"، فيعتقد مصري أن ذلك حقيقة، فيهم بالسير بعيداً، ليفاجئه السائق بالقول: "أنت صدقت ولا ايه... دي عزومة مراكبية"، وهو أسلوب يتعامل بع المجتمع العربي كثيراً.
الفيلم حمل بعض المواقف المبالغ فيها، كاللحظة التي يخرج بها مصري من الفندق حاملاً أغراضه، فينبح الكلب في وجهه، فهما كان من مصري إلا أن يرفع أمامع جواز سفره الأمريكي، ليصمت الكلب على الفور.
Translation - English "Black Honey" is the film before the last of Halmy, who recently performed a film entitled "Bolbol Hayran". Critics have not wailed on so much, but "Black Honey" represented a balanced and different move in Ahmad Helmy's life in terms of linking the reality of Egyptian youth with what is happening in the international community in a light way, close to exaggeration sometimes.
The film tells the story of the young man, Masry Sayed El-Araby, who comes from the United States of America after the absence of twenty years from Egypt, carrying with him pink dreams and images of the Egyptian society, but he faces a bitter reality because of his Egyptian passport, so he decides to bring his American passport may things change, but these moments constitute a bitter reality, especially in the bilateral relationship between the official and popular sides.
In the middle of the film, Masry reaches a crossroads. He decides to turn to the memories he once lived. He returns to his old home, and meets his old friends and they live happily. He also tries to get his American passport back, which he lost in demonstrations against America, in order to return to what he considers his new homeland, and to salvage of this hell.
This film may not contain comedic scenes like other films of Halmy, but there are a range of funny scenes, which touch the human self at the same time, such as the scene in which Masry denounces Eid in America, so his father was offering him "Eideh" every Eid in order to make him patient until return to Egypt, but father did not give Masry Eideh on one of Eid days, which makes him to realize that there is no return to Egypt after today.
On the other hand, the film shows the cultural difference between two communities. When Masry asks the bus driver, who takes him from the airport, about his fares, so the other answers, " never mind about that, Mr. Masry." He believes that it is true, and goes away, but the driver surprises him saying, “You really believe that? That was just a courtesy invitation." It is a manner that Arab community use it very much.
The film took some exaggerated positions, such as the moment when Masry comes out of hotel carrying his belongings, so the dog barked at him. Masry rises his American passport up to keep the dog silent.
