Source text - English Each one was over 16 feet high, ranging in width from 23 to 40 feet, a physically overwhelming presence even in such grand chambers. They were what one onlooker called 'those most beautiful tapestries representing the Tunis expedition', a woven account of Charles V's 'proceedings and victories against the Turks'.8 Known today as the Conquest of Tunis tapestries, the cycle now hangs in the Palacio Real in Madrid. It provided a blow-by-blow account of one of the sixteenth century's greatest clashes between Islam and Christianity: Charles V's military expedition to Tunis in the summer of 1535 to crush the Turkish pasha and grand admiral of the Ottoman fleet, Kheir-ed-Din Barbarossa.

Source text - English قد تزايد عدد المسلمين في أوروبا بعد الحروب الأهلية التي حدثت في الشرق الأوسط منذ انتفاضات الربيع العربي، كان أكثرهم من سوريا والعراق. فقد استقبلت المانيا وحدها منذ 2015 ما يقرب من 900.000 الف مسلم ومسلمة، مما قلل من تجانس السكان في أوروبا وزاد من أهمية تطبيق سياسات التعددية الثقافية ودمج الوافدين الجدد في المجتمعات المستضيفة. لطالما كان الحديث أن الدين يمثل أكبر عائق أمام الاندماج الاجتماعي، ولكن لقد أظهرت الدراسات أن هذا الامر مبالغ فيه وأن الظروف الاقتصادية والاجتماعية وأسباب الهجرة ذاتها ومعاناة رحلة اللجوء لها تأثير سلبي كافي يؤثر على سرعة الاندماج في المجتمعات المستضيفة. ومن بين المسلمين من الجيل الثاني والثالث في أوروبا الذين ترعرعوا في أوروبا منذ ولادتهم، قد اندمجوا بشكل جيد وطبيعي في المجتمعات المضيفة من خلال عمليات التوفيق بين الثقافة الأصلية والثقافات المستضيفة، خاصة في ظل اندماجهم في عملية التعليم والمدارس منذ الصغر.
Translation - Arabic Following the civil wars that erupted in the Middle East since the Arab Spring, the number of Muslims, mostly Syrian and Iraqis, in Europe has increased. Germany alone received more than 900,000 male and female Muslims since 2015, which decreased Europe's homogeneity of population and made it more necessary to develop cultural pluralism policies and include the new arrivals into the host societies. Religion has always been considered the greatest obstacle to social integration. Studies, however, have shown that this is overstated and that economic and social conditions, as well as the motives behind migration itself and the suffering endured throughout the migration journey have sufficient negative impact that bears on the swift integration into the host societies. Second- and third-generation Muslims who have lived in Europe since birth integrated well and naturally with the host societies through reconciling the native culture with host cultures, especially that they are included in education and schools at a young age.

An EN-AR/AR-EN freelance translator and editor, and a former IT specialist (database developer and administrator). As one who studied both computer science and social sciences (i.e., linguistics), I have a very good set of skills under my belt, having been actively engaged at a technical field and in writing business documents, been an active team player in an environment heavily based on teamwork, and obtained a great deal of knowledge on software, which has turned to be of great help when it came to understanding CAT tools and dealing with the rapidly-advancing translation technologies, notably MTPE.
My devotion to translation has driven me to shift my career from a full-time IT specialist who was near moving to a less-technical and more supervisory level into a freelance translator. Back then, I ventured into the new career as a novice translator armed basically with the knowledge gained from a four-year study of translation, but confident that, with an Excellent with Honors degree, a great passion for the new career and the keenness to continually hone my skills and upgrade my knowledge, I'd make it. This has not been limited to the know-how, though, but I've taken it to the next level by pursuing post-graduate studies in linguistics, and obtained an MA degree in linguistics, which I will complement by a PhD degree in translation and linguistics.
