Translation - English How to handle Japanese ceramics
Before using, please soak your ceramics in hot water to prevent cracking and color alteration.
Earthenware, color glazed ceramics, and gold/silver enameled ceramics can not be used in a microwave oven.
Ceramics with crazing glaze and stoneware (unglazed) may leak. To prevent this problem, dry your ceramics well. Then put hot thin rice gruel onto the ceramics and leave it for 5 to 6 hours.
Crazing glaze ceramics can absorb water. They should be soaked in water just before being used. Otherwise they can be difficult to clean as they can absorb broth, smell and be prone to mold. Especially white earthenware, such as konahiki, can easily get stained. Please follow the above instructions every time you use the items.
Please do not use a scrubbing brush, polishing powder or a dishwasher for these ceramics.
If stoneware is run under water, it will make your ceramics lustrous and more effective.
In the rare case of staining, please use stain remover and rinse it thoroughly with water after use.
