Translation funds my career as a professional beach volleyball player, meaning that I can train and play around the world while working virtually.
I grew up in Devon, England, before going on to study German and Spanish as an undergraduate at Cambridge University. As part of this course I spent a year working and living in the Austrian Alps, giving me an excellent working knowledge of Austrian German.
I am highly literate, deeply interested in history, philosophy, languages, sport, and food, and pride myself on my professionalism and thoroughness.
Outside of translation, I also run a small language school teaching German and Spanish in the holidays to children. I concentrate on using 'Active Learning' techniques to facilitate my students' learning, focusing on using games, songs, acting and their imagination to bring languages to life. I also regularly give talks and workshops at my old secondary school to encourage the pupils to take up languages. |
