I have always had a passion for languages, and that is why I studied English at University, getting my BA degree in 2008. After some time working on the translation of French and English board games instructions into Spanish, I decided to see a different part of the world and I moved to the UK, where I have been living since 2010.
Life has a way of taking us on paths that we never expected, and so I had to put my translation efforts to a side and start a career in the catering industry, in which I have learned so much. I have gained invaluable experience in treating people, understanding that not everyone expects the same kind of service, and that whether in actions or words, you need to adapt to your customers.
As much as this helped me to develop as a person and to learn so much more of the beauty of the English language, the time has now come for me to get back to the path I always wanted to follow and build a job out of my passion. I went back to university and I got my MA degree in Translation Studies, and ever since I have been volunteering my time and my expertise to various organizations, translating and reviewing texts, and transcribing videos, in topics as diverse as Plato’s philosophy or nuclear disarmament, for example.
Most of my working experience as a translator is in the areas of philosophy, environmental issues, gaming, history and linguistics, but I would like to also specialize in literary translation and the travel and tourism industry. Providing the best possible service is at the base of my work ethic, and so I would never take on a job where the quality could be compromised or where I could not assure that quality within the established deadlines.
