Source text - English Hong Kong, XFebruary2018-Grosvenor Ltd is proud to announce that its newShanghai office has been awarded Gold Level Certification for the WELL Building Standard™ (WELL™) by the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI™). The WELL Certification endorses Grosvenor’s commitment to achieving excellent air quality,rigorous water quality standards,and a health oriented lighting design. Unsolicited feedback from members of staff suggests the innovative design features are genuinely enhancing their workspace environment and experience.
Brenda Chung, Head of Grosvenor Asia’s Shanghai office,commented:
“Our Shanghai office refurbishment demonstrates how the WELL Building Standard™ can be applied without incurring significant additional expense, to put the health and productivity of our employees at the centre of our business agenda. The feedback from staff so far has been extremely positive.”
Administered by IWBI, the WELL Building Standard is an evidence and performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features that impact human health and wellness in the built environment, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind.
Throughout the refurbishment, all building materials selected were environmentally friendly with low emission VOC content. The team were also able to recycle more than 75% of the construction waste.Sound insulation and a bespoke selection of lighting fixtures such as non-glare, dimmable and warm colour tones all contribute to creating a working environment that is centred on wellbeing.
Located in HKRI Taikoo Hui, Jing’an District, the innovative open plan office design encourages easy and convenient interaction amongst staff. All staff can sit adjacent to the windows to enjoy natural daylight and city views from the 41st floor. The movable desk in the pantryprovidesa multi-purpose function: it offers flexibilityandanopen communication and discussion area, or when lowered,transforms into a ping pong table for staff recreation.
The new office blends contemporary design with Grosvenor’s rich history through the use of art. Both staff and visitors can enjoy a picture lined history wall tracing Grosvenor’s development from 1677 to date; a showcase of how Grosvenor’s reputation has been built over time.
Although this is Grosvenor’s first project to achieve WELL™ Gold Level Certification in Asia, it is anticipated that the award will be followed by Grosvenor’s Hong Kong office refurbishment project, located in Jardine House, Central. The approximately 5,000 square foot office headquarters for Grosvenor Asia is targeting a prestigious dual LEED and WELL™ Gold Level Certification; which if successful, will make it the first office refurbishment project in Hong Kong to receive such recognition.
