My name is Patricia Colombo. I'm a professional English<>Spanish translator and editor, with a degree in Literary and Technical Translation. With over 15 years of experience in a number of different media, both print and digital, I have collaborated in publishing houses (Richmond,TSI graphics) communication agencies (Wunderman, Towers Watson) and subtitling companies (Palmera, MediaPro) both in my country and abroad, which has taught me consistency, adherence to standards and adaptability to the different environments are key to providing a service of excellence. In 2004-2005 I attended a Postgraduate Course in Translation at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where I earned a scholarship and served as a Teaching Assistant delivering lessons, monitoring student's work and progress, and preparing special lectures and activities. Since 2010, I have cooperated in a series of projects developing bilingual (ENG-SPA) material for the states of Florida and California in the US. My work consisted in translating, adapting and proofreading the material to be printed, both in English and Spanish, and making sure the resources used matched the specific requirements of the Educational Authorities for each level (KG, Grade 1 through Grade 4). I lived in Mexico City in the years 2016-2017, an experience from which I learned uses and idioms galore. I'm flying back to Mexico in May and planning to stay in San Cristobal de las Casas for at least three months, Translating is my passion, and languages are the medium through which I love to express ideas, desires and views of the world! |
