Since 2008, when I started my translation career as an in-house translator with a small Kyiv agency, I have come a long way. I worked for international organisations, supporting — both as a translator and interpreter — large-scale events, highly sensitive meetings, and projects of national importance; had a go at freelancing during late 2012-2013; and considered changing careers in 2018 when I worked as a cook at a local Canadian café for four unforgettable months. My experience would be hard to summarize in just a couple of paragraphs, so do visit the Highlightssection if you are interested in a more in-depth look at my achievements, documents I translated and events where I acted as an interpreter.
In mid-2018, I moved to Beautiful British Columbia and dedicated some time to travelling and exploring this Canadian province. During this time, I also considered changing careers. So, for a short period, I first worked as a cook and then spent over a year as a member of a customer-facing team with a Canadian SaaS company, a leader in email archiving solutions, email compliance and message archiving systems.
From 2018 and until the beginning of 2020, I accepted only occasional translation projects from long-term clients. Now I am back in business as a full-time Ukrainian and Russian freelance translator and interpreter. If you are interested in my services as an interpreter, you can find additional information here.
Here’s a short overview of my main specialization areas:
Law: I translate agreements and contracts; (draft) legislation; by-laws; powers of attorney; certificates of good standing/ incorporation/shareholder certificates; articles of association; charters; excerpts from commercial registers; court orders & decisions; personal documents, etc. and other documents related to the following areas of law: Banking & Finance; Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions; Dispute Resolution; Intellectual Property; Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare; Real Estate & Construction; Restructuring & Insolvency; Securities & Capital Markets; Tax & Customs.
Business and Marketing texts and documents: business correspondence; company profiles; promotional materials; media (press) releases;newsletters; fact sheets; minutes; reports.
I have a significant expertise in Food Safety and Animal Welfare, as well as diplomatic correspondence and documents related to international organizations.
Apart from translating per se, I use my keen eye for detail to proofread and edit translations and original texts written in Ukrainian and Russian.
My second source language is French. Although I have been translating significantly less from French than English, I greatly enjoy working with this language. I translate personal documents and business correspondence, marketing and general non-technical texts.
I am also currently branching out into the areas that are of personal interest to me:
Game and Website Localization – this year, I joined SBT Localization, a group of translators who localize computer games, applications, books and more into Ukrainian. I also dedicate a fair amount of time to educating myself about various stages of the localization process. I would be happy to help you out with localization of your game, website or application into Ukrainian.
Food and Culinary Industry – I am a foodie and the first thing I look up on the web when planning a trip to a new place is the best local food spots. I worked as a cook for four months and even completed a food safety training for this. I would be delighted to work on your food-related projects.
Sports, Fitness and Recreation – I am an active lifestyle advocate and feel best outdoors, biking, hiking or simply walking. I have almost become a ballet dancer instead of translator, I have taken karate and figure skating lessons. Since 2011, I am an active mountain biker and have participated in local and international races. I also worked for two international sporting event projects (see Highlightsfor details) and would love to do more sports-related translation work.
If you still have questions about my services or my expertise, please do not hesitate to contact me. I am looking forward to working with you!
