We are based in Israel, near Tel- Aviv.
COMPANY PROFILE AND OBJECTIVES:
Company profile:
We have established our translation firm in 1997.
We specialize in translating, editing and proofreading of technical manuals, marketing materials, commercial and technical proposals, product documentation, advertisements, contracts, medical documents, and presentations. We translate hard science, high tech, legal and commercial material. Personal and business correspondence, commercial papers, press releases, certificates, technical writing and reports, articles on science and technology, philosophy, medicine, manuals, guides, computer instruction books (Software, Hardware, User guides), promotional materials.
Our Tools include state of the art terminology, scanning, FTP, PDF, PageMaker, QuarkXpress, Internet. We use leading-edge technology for speed, accuracy and economy. We work in all major word processing software but mainly in Word 97 and Office applications.
Our staff includes currently Chief Translator and Editor, Translators, Proofreaders, Editors and Localizers. We employ 15 full-time freelance translators, and 80 part-time freelance translators, editors and proofreaders. We select them very cautiously. For some of the languages, only 1 freelancer out of 50 who submitted their resume gets permanent job. Each of the members of our staff has vast experience in their field.
Our customers: We serve many of the Hi-Tech and defense industries in Israel. In addition, we serve companies and translation agencies all over the world.
Languages:
Origin / Target languages: Hebrew, Arabic, German, French, Italian, Spanish, English, Dutch, Russian (including Ukraine), Yiddish, Turkish and polish. Most combinations between these languages are possible for us.
All our translators are translating to a target language that is their mother tongue.
Company Objectives:
We take pride in our work and the client's satisfaction is our primary goal.
Our aim is to Translate Meanings, Not only Words. All translations, even the most technical and scientific, must take into account cultural considerations and styles. The way documents are organized and written in one country may not be understood in another. So each document that we translate is also evaluated against the criteria of accurately translating the author's meaning, as well as the words.
We provide our clients with accurate, edited translation. On-schedule. On-budget. Every time.
We have knowledge of the subtleties of the languages and the challenges that idiomatic expressions can present. The material that you submit will be translated taking into consideration, not only proper grammar, but also the most accurate phrasing in the target language, producing a result that does not read like a translation.
I am CEO of a translation company in Israel that has been a cooperative of a few dozen freelance translators since 1997. As you might know, Israel is a country of immigrants and our group benefits from natives of 80 languages and countries. All translators / members translate into their mother tongue only.
Our company acts as a broker for these translators and we charge a small mark-up over the freelancers' rates to cover our overhead expenses. The company also supervises these rates so that they are usually very modest.
We perform quality control and assurance procedures for these translators to keep a high standard of performance. We do our best to reach perfection. (Please see procedure attached bellow).
An acceptance committee accepts new translators on a basis of a test, past employment, experience history, and an interview. Not many are accepted but those who are, are probably the best. Pairs of languages change from time to time due to new translators that join and so do our fields of expertise. The list of language pairs that we support currently is attached bellow.
Hebrew, Arabic, Yiddish and Russian are our main (but not the only) languages.
Our rates are very low considering what you receive: a proofread and edited
document, you can send straight to your client.
Please see more details at our web site: www.lavitramslations.com
For an American company there is a great advantage in working with us, because of the time difference between us: We are 6 to 10 hours ahead of
you (depending on your time zone). If you send us an urgent job during your
late evening (which is morning here) we can finish your job - if not too
long - until your morning. In any case you gain 6 to 10 hours.
PRICES:
We charge minimal markup over the freelancers' prices. Rates depend on the complexity, urgency and length of the document.
Pricing can be difficult. What might look like a simple text in the beginning can turn out to be a very time-consuming translation - and vice versa. A letter to a long-lost relative obviously does not have the same degree of difficulty as a dissertation about hormonal changes in teenagers.
I charge by the word, depending on how fast you need it, text layout, and degree of difficulty/subject matter.
Translation Prices start as low as just a few cents to 20 cents a word. The average
Price is around 8 to 10 cents a word.
Proof reading price (average) is 5 US Dollars a page of 250 words.
Editing price is about 10 US Dollars a page.
There might be an additional charge for special requests.
