Bio

As a recent graduate of French Studies from the University of Manchester, I am looking for some translation work to get started in the professional translation world. Aside from having spent the majority of my formative years fully immersed in French culture and language, as I spent over ten years in France and completed most of my formal education there, I have a selection of relevant experience that directly relates to translation. At University, I took part in translation modules, translating and transcribing from English to French and vice versa. I have worked with the British Council as an English Language Assistant, and made use of the skills I learned at University when translating academic as well as official documents. I often acted as a link between my host organisation in France and the British Council, translating key messages and official documentation both ways.

In my most recent salaried job, I worked as a chef in a small Deli in Cambridgeshire. I made delicious fresh Italian pizzas and many more tasty treats. Although I loved my job, I was let go due to the toll Covid-19 had on the company. Following my redundancy, I made the decision to move back to France, where I currently make a living as a Deliveroo delivery rider. It keeps me fit and fed, but I'm looking for an opportunity to make use of my language skills professionally. I also do some volunteer subtitle translation work for Ted Talks, which I've thoroughly enjoyed; although I do need to start earning something for my hard work!

The current international epidemic has re-kindled my passion for language, and I am keen to start my journey towards professional translation. I am open to most types of translation work, but I have a keen interest in subtitling and audio-visual work. I primarily translate into English, but I am perfectly capable of translating into French.

Please feel free to get in touch if you have a translation project for me. I look forward to hearing from you!
