Bio

I was born in Belgium, in the Flanders region, and I got my PhD in Germanic Philology at the University of Antwerp. I majored in both English and German. After university, I started working in the marketing industry where ironically, the majority of my clients were French. I ended up translating more into French than in any of the languages I actually graduated in.

In 2008 I moved to South Africa, into the heart of the Cape Winelands to be more specific, where I discovered 2 new passions, the Afrikaans language and oenology. I continued my translation business for SA clients and became a sommelier, which enabled me to host wine tours and tastings for various wine farms in French, German, English and Afrikaans. After about 5 years in the Cape, Afrikaans naturally evolved into my mother tongue.

If you ask me what I'm about, I'd have to say words and wine.
