I was born and raised in the United States, and then lived in Japan for 12 years, from 1986 to 1998. My native language is American English, and I am fluent in Japanese. I am a full-time, freelance Japanese-to-English translator and English editor and proofreader, and work in partnership with my native Japanese husband, Yasuhiko Ishii, who is also a full-time, freelance translator (English to Japanese).
All of my translations include a native Japanese speaker's check.
Member of the Japan Association of Translators.
Associate Member of the American Translators Association.
Passed Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. Recent game projects include Dark Cloud 2, Dino Crisis 3 and Shadow Hearts. I have worked in the capacities of translator (as either part of a translation team or as the sole translator for entire game projects), editor (often as the sole editor for entire game projects) and project manager. Recent website-localization projects include the website of a major Japanese cosmetics manufacturer.
