Source text - English Patient: Doctor, I really need your help. I don't know if I should get a bone density test. Maybe I have osteoporosis, since my mother has it.
Doctor: I'd be happy to talk about that. Let's see you're - 66, and you've never had one? Then yes. Usually at your age it's very good idea to get a bone dentistry test so we can find out if you're at risk for osteoporosis or not.
Patient: What does the test do?
Doctor: Basically it tests your bone strength.
Patient: Why do you think I should get the test?
Doctor: Well, let’s say you’re at risk for osteoporosis, and the test shows us that. Finding out early if you have it means we can treat it before it gets worse. That could help slow down the rate of bone loss, which would make your bones less likely to break.
Patient: Does it hurt? Is it long?
Doctor: Not at all. It’s like an X-Ray, it just scans your body. It only takes about 15 minutes.
Patient: I am a little scared of tests, to be honest. Is osteoporosis serious?
Doctor: It can be sure. Usually people with osteoporosis break their hip or spine or wrist more often than someone else. And broken bones hurt. They cause a lot of pain and disability, and even daily activities can be hard. So definitely, we want to avoid any broken bones if we can.
Patient: Do many people have this condition?
Doctor: It's more common than people realize, yes. About 10 million Americans have it, and one of every two women and one in four men over the age of 50 will break a bone at some point in their life because of osteoporosis.
Patient: That sounds scary! Okay. I’m going to have the test. But will Medicare pay for it?
Doctor: Yes, because you’re female and over 65, Medicare will cover it. So, let’s set you up with an appointment.

Patient: I have had chest pain for the last few hours, and I have not been able to sleep lately.
Doctor: Where is the pain, Mrs. Fernandez? Does the pain travel anywhere?
Patient: The pain is right over here, and it usually spreads to my left arm.
Doctor: What does the pain feel like?
Patient: It felt like indigestion at the beginning, but now it is becoming more like a pressure over my chest.
Doctor: How long does it last?
Patient: When I get the pain, it usually last five minutes, and then it goes away.
Doctor: On scale of 0 to 10. How would you rate the pain?
Patient: I don’t understand what you mean.
Doctor: How severe the pain?
Patient: Oh. It is becoming very intense. I can’t even breathe well anymore.
Doctor: Mrs. Fernandez, what makes the pain worse?
Patient: Walking makes the pain worse. I cannot walk more than one block. I also have it when I climb up the stairs at home.
