Source text - Vietnamese Tháng tư năm nay, Người phán xử ra mắt khán giả xem đài và ngay lập tức gây xôn xao từ tập đầu tiên. Rất nhiều lời khen dành cho bộ phim lấy đề tài hình sự, thế giới ngầm cũng như tỉ suất bạn xem đài rất cao đã khiến khán giả có cái nhìn khác hơn về phim truyền hình nước nhà. Không ít người đã chẳng ngại ngần dành những lời tâng bốc có phần thái quá cho Người phán xử kiểu "một cuộc cách mạng của phim truyền hình Việt". Nhưng ngẫm lại cũng có phần không ngoa.
Ngay từ tập đầu tiên, bộ phim đã lập tức tạo được hiệu ứng bởi câu chuyện gai góc, tình huống dồn dập và đặc biệt là yếu tố bạo lực khá rõ. Ngoài yếu tố hình ảnh thì tình tiết, đường dây câu chuyện, nhân vật cũng là một điểm cộng rất lớn, giữ cho bộ phim luôn có được không khí bí ẩn, căng thẳng cần có nhưng cũng không kém phần hài hước để người ta xôn xao.
Theo số liệu thu được, tỉ suất xem đài của Người phán xử tăng lên theo từng tập. Có lúc con số lên 37.3% (tức trong 100 người xem đài trong thời gian Người phán xử phát sóng thì có ít nhất 37 người theo dõi bộ phim). Tiền quảng cáo trong khung giờ phim phát sóng cũng theo đó mà tăng lên 20-30%, khiến bộ phim thu về khoảng 3 tỉ đồng mỗi tập.
Đây là những con số mà bất cứ nhà làm phim, nhà đầu tư nào cũng thèm khát. Cũng vì vậy mà trong thời gian lân cận, chúng ta có thể thấy được sự rục rịch để trở lại sóng truyền hình của nhiều dự án bị hoãn từ vài năm (Bước nhảy hoàn vũ) hoặc của cả "đế chế phim truyền hình" một thời TFS (Lẩn khuất một tên người).
Những điều được liệt kê bên trên đã đủ để chúng ta công nhận Người phán xử góp công rất nhiều trong việc thay đổi cách nhìn của khán giả với phim truyền hình Việt. Nếu chưa có kịch bản hay thì mua kịch bản nước ngoài, mạnh dạn thực hiện những cảnh quay thực tế, diễn viên thì vừa thực lực vừa chịu giao tiếp, nhà sản xuất lại chiều lòng khán giả hết mực, bấy nhiêu đó thôi đã quá xứng đáng để Người phán xử được trao giải Cống hiến (nếu có) rồi.
Translation - English Aired this April, the Vietnamese crime drama series Người phán xử (English: The Arbitrator) immediately attracted attention after the first episode. Lots of compliments on the show’s themes of the criminal underworld, along with its extremely high ratings, have changed local viewers’ perspective of Vietnamese television dramas. Although some praises such as “a revolution of Vietnamese TV dramas” may have been quite an exaggeration, it is no doubt “The Arbitrator” has earned it.
The first episode created an effect right away due to its tough plot, rapid sequences and, especially, quite apparent on-screen violence. Beside its imagery, the show benefitted from its details, storyline and characters to maintain the ambiguous and thrilling atmosphere necessary but not without comedic relief.
According to the collected statistics, there was an increase in the show’s ratings episode by episode, peaking at 37.3 percent (meaning, during “The Arbitrator” air time, there were at least 37 out of 100 viewers watching the series). This also brought a 20 to 30 percent increase in advertisement cost, resulting in a revenue of 3 million VND (about $130) per episode.
Such statistics are burning desires of any filmmakers and investors. As a result, there has been some preparation for the comebacks of other on-hiatus projects a few years ago, like “Dancing with the stars” or “Lẩn khuất một tên người” (suggested English title: The mystery of a murder)—a project of Hồ Chí Minh City Television Film Studios (TFS), the former “empire of TV shows.”
All the above reasons are enough to prove The Arbitrator’s significant contribution in changing Vietnamese viewers’ perspective towards national TV shows. If the local scripts are not good enough, buy the rights for scripts from other countries. In addition, dare to film real-life scenes with a cast of talented and communicative actors and actresses, and a production company who cares about the audience. Just with that, “The Arbitrator” deserved the Dedication award (if any).
