With a fierce passion for the English language, I'm an engineer turned translator.
I've got a BSc in Automation and Applied Informatics from the "Politehnica" University of Timișoara and an MA in the Theory and Practice of Translation (English branch) from the West University of Timișoara.
My experience as an engineer in Software Quality Assurance in the Automotive field, more specifically, in braking, proves my familiarity with the electronics, microcontrollers, software and software QA vocabulary.
As a translation student, I gathered experience thanks to the translation summer practice, which I have completed for a construction company in 2021 and for a social services providing NGO in 2022. I have also volunteered to subtitle four short films and one feature film for The Galactic Imaginarium Sci-Fi & Fantasy Film Festival in 2021. Moreover, I have written my MA paper on the differences between the subtitling and dubbing translation in the animation film Brave (2012), providing an original music translation for the main featured song - Touch the Sky.
During my Master's I have mostly translated literary, medical and historical texts, but also speeches, magazine articles, and, as a side project, I have also partially translated and fully edited a medical PhD. in Phlebology.
My personal interests include visual and performing arts, architecture and heritage, history and archaeology, so my vocabulary is well developed in all these fields as well, in both English and Romanian.
