Bio

My name is Andrew Bartels and I make Spanish, Catalan and Hungarian messages available to English speakers.

I take the time to understand what the source language says and then deliver it in English. I’ll make sure that your audience gets the message and that it commands their attention.

I provide commercial, consumer-oriented, academic and immigration-related translations from Spanish, Catalan and Hungarian into English.

I’m experienced at translating marketing content such as product catalogs, advertisements, websites and other content that seeks to draw new attention to products and services.

Catalan, Spanish and Hungarian jobseekers can look to me to translate and help polish their CVs, resumes and cover letters to make them shine in the English-speaking world.

I also maintain an academic translation practice. I translate articles, abstracts, surveys, and reports from Spanish, Catalan and Hungarian into English. Contact me if you’re an academic who is interested in making your work reach a wider audience.

Additionally, I translate documents that people need to submit to English-speaking immigration authorities, such as birth certificates, criminal history reports, academic records, financial holdings certificates and more.

My promise is to ensure that my clients’ messages connect with English-speaking audiences. If you have a document, website or idea that exists in Spanish, Catalan or Hungarian, I’ll help you deliver it in English.

Spanish and Catalan legal translation

One of my main work areas is legal translation from Spanish and Catalan into English. I translate legal documents that appear at all stages of criminal, civil and immigration proceedings. If you’re renting an apartment in Spain and you want an English version of your lease, or you’re a lawyer at the start of a drawn-out case requiring reams of translation, I’ll make sure that English readers walk away with the same understanding as Catalan or Spanish readers do.

You can count on me to maintain confidentiality while working with legal filings, court orders, police reports, public record extracts, witness statements, contracts, and the myriad other documents that you might find over the course of legal proceedings.

Making Hungarian accessible to English speakers

My Hungarian-to-English work focuses on commercial, consumer-oriented and genealogical translation. I help Hungarians thrive in English speaking countries and markets, as well as helping non-Hungarian firms and individuals succeed in Hungary. If you’re at a company thinking of expanding into the Hungarian-speaking market, I prepare English versions of reports from industry associations and regulators, Hungarian content from potential competitors and more to support your research on and entry into the Hungarian market.

Additionally, if you’ve moved to Hungary, I can translate your lease, forms from authorities, utility bills, signs posted in your building, or any other Hungarian text you encounter day-to-day that you want to understand.

Hungarian genealogical translation is another service I offer. If you have documents – like letters, diaries or a photo album with notes – that belonged to a Hungarian ancestor, then I can tell you what they say. In addition to deciphering old handwriting, I can give you helpful context about documents, such as providing information about dates and place names or pointing out when it looks like someone added to the document later.
