I worked in Japan for six years, first an assistant language teacher and cultural ambassador for a municipality in Okayama Prefecture, and then moved to the private sector and managed an international sales team for one of Japan's leading martial arts equipment manufacturers in Kyoto. Part of my role involved making budo (kendo, iaido, aikido, judo and so on) material accessible for international audiences through translation, editing and product promotion.
Now I am working towards further postgraduate education in Japanese heritage and literature and have a keen interest in the international experience. Having long been a consumer of the efforts of translators, now that I have the skill to contribute I want to make the world's stories as accessible as possible. |
