Hi, I'm Ilona, I believe that I am ideal for the role of Freelance Translator, I was born in Poland, Lublin, but at the ripe age of 7 I had moved with my mother to England for search of a better life. Little did I know, language came a lot quicker to a child who was still processing the extra letters in the alphabet in Polish, than to my mum who corrected my Polish as part of her extra- curricular activities.
I soon became the main person in the house who sat on the phone and had to pass the phone to my mum who spoke in broken English to clarify that yes the owner of the bank account is sitting next to me, and I'm not trying to change my mums banking details to my own. I soon translated all her school work she had difficulty with, ( acquired some good knowledge on child development), wrote to landlords and government officials ( Law terminology was also something I picked up quickly), applied for grants and benefits on the Government websites, spoke on the phone and interpreted her calls with the phone, gas, and electricity companies and lastly explained in a much nicer tone than my Eastern European mother to the kind salesman that we would not like anything from the promotion section. I have proofread many emails, school work texts, medical letters, webpage texts and lastly translated speech directly over the phone.
I believe that my qualifications match perfectly with your current needs and requirements. What is more, I believe that my qualities would be valuable to your team and that it would be the opportunity of a lifetime for me to grow both personally and professionally I possess native fluency in reading writing and speaking both Polish and English, having been born in Poland, and then moved to London at a young age. This experience has provided me with a solid grasp of various regional dialects and customs in both languages. I have a flowing grasp of the Polish and English languages with an understanding of proper sentence structure grammar rules and vocabulary.
