Translation - English The shift in interest towards a co-configuration of humans and machines gives way to the emergence of a movement in philosophy of technology that H. Achteruis has termed “empirical turn”. This movement starts in the 1980s and extends into our days. Exponents of this “turn” take as their unit of analysis human practices, which can be seen as always being mediated and assembled within a technical network. There are three main authors I feel inclined to mention as representatives of the empirical turn: First, L. Winner, who analyses the inherently political dimension of artifacts, and the mode in which they actualize ethical judgements, and biases, both racial and economic. Second, there is A. Feenberg and his Critical Theory of Technology, which deals with the alienation of technical systems, in an attempt to “re-open the blackbox” of technology. Both, Feenberg and Winner, stand against the technological neutrality thesis. Finally, I should mention the author with whose ideas this project’s objectives are mainly aligned, the philosopher of technology Don Ihde, founder of the movement known as postphenomenology, a philosophical approach that dedicates itself to the phenomenological and hermeneutical analysis of technological objects in search of three main descriptors: Multistability (various trajectories and possibilities of the technological phenomenon), lifeworld (sociocultural and experiential background), and human-technology relations (embodiment, hermeneutic and background relations.)
