After completing my PhD (biochemistry, Imperial College, London University, 1994), I worked at a big Japanese pharmaceutical company in Tokyo for 8 years, moving over to the translation side. Since then I have worked freelance, mainly translating, with some editing, post-MT, corporate training, etc. I have been a Qualified Member of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting since 2013. About 90% of my work is in medicine and pharmaceuticals, but I will take on anything related to biology and chemistry. I particularly enjoy botany, environmental science, etc., relating to my outdoors-related interests. I live near Kyoto, and am happy to meet up with clients in Japan in person at any time, to discuss projects, etc. |
