Bio

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas by immigrant, Spanish-speaking parents. Though Dallas is a large, multicultural city, many children of immigrant parents can relate to being an informal translator and interpreter for their family members. Now, as an individual with professional experience in translating and interpreting, those memories serve as an inspiration to a continuous dedication to provide precise, skillful, and outstanding work.

My educational background is in Translating, Interpreting, and Anthropology. I obtained a BA in Spanish Translation and Interpreting from the University of Texas at Arlington and a BA in Anthropology with a minor in Sociology from the University of North Texas. At UTA, I studied courses on medical and judicial translating and interpreting, as well as topics in Latin American culture. Similarly, my studies at UNT focused on topics in African culture, as well as primatology, archaeology, and ethnographic research.

In way of experience, over the past year I have worked with the Human Rights Initiative and Teneo Linguistics Company as a translation and interpreting intern. During that time, I translated and reviewed a variety of documents, including affidavits, medical information documents, birth certificates, marriage licenses, university diplomas, general promotional material, etc. The interpretation sessions I've done involve meetings between lawyers and clients, medical appointments, and live, virtual presentations on the Facebook Live and Zoom platforms.

Besides my two great passions, I also have interests in other fields. I am very dedicated to education, particularly ESL. I have taught several ESL courses with organizations across the DFW area, and it's always an honor to accompany language learners into a new part of their life. Furthermore, I have been involved in the nonprofit sector for a few years now. I've worked with nonprofits dedicated to resource allocation, education, and scarcity resolution.

I believe translating and interpreting is a great way to open the world, while bringing it closer together. For me, an ideal world would be one in which everyone has equal access to the information they seek, whether it be for entertainment or necessity.
