I might not be the only Somali linguist, but it seems that I am one of only a few to have a sound technical background.
I also have the linguistic qualification and experience: about 7 years ago I started translating websites and health care resources in part-time. Now I'm full time.
This thought me how to translate a text without just copying into a target language but providing a free translation that nevertheless contains all the important bits. I eventually decided that this was the job that I wanted to do deep down and got the necessary qualification in the form of translator's certificate.
