Dear Pingree students and families,
The start of preseason tryouts and practices is just around the corner! As a reminder, preseason for varsity teams begins the week of August 22. Tryouts are open to all students interested in playing at the varsity level. (All students signed up for cross country, dance, and football should attend preseason.) Detailed information by team, including practice locations, is available here.
If you need support coordinating transportation, please complete this pre-season transportation request form by Monday, August 15.
Sub-varsity teams (field hockey, golf, boys soccer, girls soccer, and volleyball) and afternoon programs (fall theater and tech theater, fitness, robotics, and strength & conditioning) will begin on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 following the first day of classes.
Some reminders and items to note include:
All required medical forms must be completed prior to participation in pre-season activities. To access the health portal, go to www……………… and click on the Magnus Health Portal link. Please email the Health Office with any questions.
Tryouts for programs with multiple sub-varsity levels, including girls and boys soccer, begin on September 7. Teams will be divided based on level of experience to provide the best possible learning and playing experience.
The weekly practice schedule is linked on all individual team pages on the Pingree athletics website. Please check practice schedules regularly throughout the season for any schedule adjustments. Students and families can now access game schedules and related information on individual team pages.
The add-drop deadline for fall programs is Friday, September 16. If you are interested in switching your activity, please contact Mr. AAAAAA in the Athletics Department to inquire about alternative available options.
General locker rooms will be available for all preseason activities in the Athletics Center. Team rooms will be available after tryouts.
As always, do not hesitate to reach out to the athletics department if you have questions. We look forward to seeing you on campus soon.

Source text - English Intangible heritage has often manifested itself strikingly in rural areas, and connects with a sense of place. In their CVP Critical Review, Jones & Leech cite research in a Scottish Gaelic speaking context which highlights the intangible qualities of the concept àite dachaidh (‘place of my home’ or habitat). ‘It refers to fluid oral narratives – such as litanies of names, places and the loci of particular events – that wend their way through community life in the production of Gaelic identities and a sense of place within the Outer Hebrides.’ (Jones & Leech CVP Report, p.22). It is in the Outer Hebrides that intangible heritage comes together with digital technologies in Beel and Wallace’s CVP Research Development Award ‘Exploring value in digital archives and the Comainn Eachdraidh.’ These Historical Societies are a grass-roots community movement which, since the 1970s, has worked with history, heritage and culture, collecting items of tangible and intangible heritage relating to local communities. These are not select groups, because almost all the islands’ populations are involved.
The key to it all is a concern for the objects, stories and genealogical knowledge that others might have missed or chosen not to keep, or which have simply never been recorded. ‘The process itself, the shared experience of participating, collecting and listening with others; the sense of producing something of worth for the community and its ability to bring people together, contributed to a sense of wellbeing and cohesiveness.’ (Beel & Wallace CVP Report, p.14).

Sound performance despite difficult market environment
Dear Colleagues,
We are happy to inform you of a sound performance in the first six months of 2022 despite a difficult environment. Here’s a summary of what we have communicated to the public today.
Margin pressure due to higher input costs
In the first half of 2022 we increased revenue from continuing operations by 11.7% to CHF 541.6 million in a difficult environment. Adjusted for negative currency effects and for first time revenue from QSR and Xinhui, this is equivalent to organic growth of 5.9%. The sharp rise in input costs, negative effects of acquisitions and delayed impact of successfully implemented price increases caused the operating result (EBIT) to temporarily decline to CHF 72.5 million and the EBIT margin to 13.4%.
Strategic acquisitions of QSR and Xinhui
Winning new projects and launching new product lines for additional revenue in the Mobility and Healthcare business units over the medium term prove that we are strategically well placed. By acquiring QSR and Xinhui we are also gaining access to the rapidly growing market segment for electrical connector seals and the important Chinese healthcare market. The combination of expanding existing business activities and focused acquisitions will continue to form the basis for future profitable growth.
Product mix effects in Healthcare Solutions dampen margin development
Assuming an orderly supply of energy, the situation in our relevant markets is varied. In the Connectors, General Industry, and Food & Beverage business units, we assume the trend in demand will stay positive. The Mobility business unit should benefit from increased car production in the second half as well. In our Healthcare business, we anticipate slowing growth, and hence a temporary negative change in the product mix, as a result of declining revenues from components for Covid vaccines. This, together with the costs of implementing the growth strategy, is dampening the potential for EBIT margin, despite the price increases successfully implemented in all business units. For the full year 2022, we continue to aim for revenue between CHF 1'150 million and CHF 1'200 million and an EBIT margin of between 13% and 16%, including the QSR and Yantai Xinhui Packing acquisitions.
