Bio
As a Japanese American who returned to Japan at age 18, I not only have bilingual fluency but a lived comprehension of each culture.
My main field of interest is arts and culture. I spent 7 years at an old school Tokyo art gallery where I learned a great deal from the many artists and their work that I was able to encounter, and most recently worked at Japan's biggest video production studio where I experienced the corporate, cutting edge, commercial side of creativity.
I also have a highly technical understanding of the video production process, particularly post-production and CG/VFX.
Previous and current employment includes:
Video production company - interpretation and translation as a part of day to day work in the field of postproduction mainly in the advertising industry
Contemporary art gallery - interpretation at art fair events and translation of essays by artists and critics (including many highly abstract and philosophical concepts)
Visa support - translation of documents and writing of visa support letters for Japanese workers and executives (including highly technical jargon for engineers, medical equipment manufacturers, etc.)
Freelance work - video game scripts, dialogue, website UI
Educational background in religion/philosophy, art history/literature
Additional education in computer graphics with a technical knowledge of many 3D and VFX software
