English to Portuguese: HIPOGLICEMIA EM ADULTOS COM DIABETES MELLITUS TIPO 1 General field: Medical Detailed field: Medical (general)
Source text - English ABSTRACT Introduction: Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM) occurs due to an autoimmune destruction of pancreatic beta cells and insulin therapy is essential for its treatment. Hypoglycemia is a serious and potentially fatal complication, constituting an event that affects patient safety as well as glycemic control. Recurrent hypoglycemia contributes to the occurrence of asymptomatic hypoglycemia, severe hypoglycemia and Impaired Awareness of Hypoglycemia (IHA). Objectives: To verify the frequency of symptomatic and asymptomatic hypoglycemia, severe hypoglycemia and IHA, as well as situations related to hypoglycemia episodes. Methods: It was an observational, cross-sectional, prospective and descriptive study with patients diagnosed with T1DM in a tertiary hospital. Sociodemographic and clinical data were collected through information contained in the medical records and data obtained from completing three questionnaires related to hypoglycemia and IHA. Results: From 62 patients with T1DM studied, 61.3% reported symptomatic hypoglycemia and 38.7% asymptomatic hypoglycemia. The majority (71%) had at least one hypoglycemia with significant neuroglycopenic manifestation (apathy, confusion or disorientation) in the last six months and almost half (46.7%) had loss of consciousness, seizure or need for intravenous glucose in the last year. The presence of IHA was identified in 21% and 24% by the Clarke and Gold questionnaires, respectively. Nocturnal hypoglycemia was the most common associated situation and the main approach adopted by patients was to increase the amount of calories in their diet. A significant association was found between IHA and the lowest dose of daily insulin used. Conclusion: The significant presence of asymptomatic, severe hypoglycemia and IHA found in this population raises awareness of the importance of diabetes education and the understanding that it will often be necessary to modify glycemic goals to reduce episodes of hypoglycemia, reducing their consequences and recurrences. Key-words: hypoglycemia; Impaired Awareness of Hypoglycemia; type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.
English to Portuguese: Benefits of Digitalization of a Language General field: Other Detailed field: Hotels = Tourism
Source text - English Benefits of Digitization of a Language
We hope the Zero To Digital series of guidelines will offer any interested language community a clear path to digitization if they wish to enjoy full computer capabilities in their native language.
The benefits of rendering a language in digital form will depend on the goals of its speaker community. These may include celebrating the beauty of the language, maintaining knowledge systems, disseminating values, creating apps and products, sharing stories and histories, facilitating environmental stewardship and thought leadership, and expanding trade, education, employment, entertainment, health, and safety. Digitization allows a community to avail itself of an ever-expanding set of computer-based tools for language maintenance, revitalization, and education. A strong digital presence online, and therefore increased visibility, may help influence government policies in support of Indigenous communities and tip businesses toward inclusion. Given the ubiquity of smartphones among youth, digitization may be a natural avenue to engage them with their native language. Greater exposure via digital platforms can lead to more opportunities and demand for native speakers.
Translation - Portuguese Benefícios da Digitalização de uma Língua
