Brief summary: I'm an IT and marketing translator. My work allows German-speaking users to use computer applications, websites, training material and manuals in German.
I graduated from the University of Freiburg/Germany in 1995 and moved to London to take up a position as editorial assistant in the dictionaries department of Routledge Limited. I mainly worked on the German Dictionary of Business, Commerce and Finance.
In 1997, I set up as a freelance translator. My work comprised the translation of printed and online documentation, help files,and UI files. I also translated marketing and business-related texts.
In 2000 I moved to Vienna/Austria to take up the position as technical writer/translator in the documentation department of update software AG. update is one of Europe's leading vendors of CRM software. I later became team leader of the documentation department and my tasks extended to include the co-ordination of the documentation team comprising technical writers and translators and liaising with the in-house software engineers and project managers. I also became responsible for the UI texts in English and German.
In 2010 I re-launched my career as freelance translator. My work comprises the translation of printed and online documentation, help files and UI files, occasionally localising a product that hadn't been localised before. I also translate marketing and business-related texts as well as websites.

I use a number of different CAT tools such as SDL Trados Studio 2009 and Passolo 2009 as well as Microsoft Office 2010, Adobe Photoshop and various versions of Windows and Linux (I use virtual machines).
