As a native-born American citizen living in Mexico for the last 13 years, I have developed a unique sense of the flavor and culture of the country and the Latin American mind set that is often essential in the work of accurate translation.
I have worked as a Baptist Minister in the country of Mexico since 1990. My work has involved simultaneous/consecutive interpretation and translation of written materials, as well as teaching, counseling and writing in Spanish. While my obvious field of expertise is in the area of religious subjects, my work has made it necessary to deal with legal, medical, psychological, political, computer, and business matters as well.
I have traveled extensively throughout Mexico and into Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Panama. My work has brought me into close contact with Latin Americans of all social levels and enabled me to develop a rich vocabulary in both formal and informal uses of the Spanish language. This has also given me an extensive network of contacts for consultation in a wide range of professional subjects.
In 1994, I started and currently direct a private school for Mexican children that offers courses in English, and have been involved in the cultural and language training of new missionary arrivals in the country. |
