every single translator has to start somewhere; here I am.
Until now I only have academic translation experiences as I completed a 30 credits Mineur in translation, but I can translate with confidence. Of course, maybe not at the pace of a translator that has 25 years of experience, but I can certainly start with not too urgent translation projects. My rate would be quite low. Let say that this year, I wish I could get experience, so I am looking for a kind of internship!!!
I also completed another 30 credits in Italian studies, which allows me to translate from Italian to French. At the moment I study professionnal writing at distance university, which give me a lot of flexibility.
Furthermore, I work in a travel agency, which is a field I could easily translate. Also, I worked 2 years in a general hospital, mainly in the ER, and I also studied NURSING (not completed), so I could feel comfortable with medical translation. In any case, my academic background make me confident as I learned how and where to find accurate teminology and my French is impeccable.
Finally, I am newly employed at www.Verbatim.qc.ca as a transcriber. I will have to do subtitling on a regular basis eventually. I will be also asked from time to time to translate.
