English to Spanish: USGA Recommendations for a Method of putting Green Constructions by the USGA Green Section Staff
Source text - English For more than 40 years the USGA recommendations for green construction have been the most widely used method of green construction throughout the United States and in other parts of the world. When built and maintained properly, USGA greens have provided consistently good results for golf courses over a period of many years. These guidelines are periodically reviewed and updated as a result of scientific research and as new techniques and materials are proven reliable.
The remainder of this document specifically represents the USGA Green Section's recommendations for green construction. This document does not attempt to discuss various construction techniques or methods. Additional documents are available from the USGA that depict construction methods, offering tips for success and providing guidance for green management.
Step 1 - The Subgrade
The slope of the subgrade should conform to the general slope of the finished grade. The subgrade should be established approximately 16 inches (400 mm) below the proposed surface grade - 18 to 20 inches (450 to 500 mm) when an intermediate layer is necessary - and should be thoroughly compacted to prevent further settling. Water collecting depressions should be avoided.
If the subsoil is unstable, such as with an expanding clay, sand, or muck soil, geotextile fabrics may be used as a barrier between the subsoil and the gravel blanket. Install the fabric as outlined in Step 2.
Construct collar areas around the green to the same standards as the putting surface itself.
Translation - Spanish Desde hace más de 40 años, el método de la USGA para la construcción de greens se ha convertido en un modelo recurrente para los EE.UU. y otros países del mundo. Durante años, los greens de la USGA, construidos y mantenidos adecuadamente, han ofrecido excelentes resultados en los campos de golf. Los principios establecidos por la USGA se revisan y actualizan periódicamente como resultado de las investigaciones científicas y de las nuevas técnicas y materiales que resultan eficaces en la práctica.
Con este documento se pretende exponer una serie de recomendaciones para la construcción de greens; en ningún momento se contraponen diferentes técnicas o métodos. La USGA ha publicado anteriormente otros informes que establecen métodos de construcción, ofrecen las claves del éxito y facilitan una guía para la administración de los greens.
Fase 1 – El subsuelo
La forma del subsuelo se adaptará exactamente a la superficie del green una vez terminado. El subsuelo se construirá a unos 40 cm. por debajo del nivel final del green (de 45 a 50 cm. si resulta necesario colocar una capa intermedia). El piso del cajón será compacto con el fin de evitar asentamientos posteriores y se corregirán las zonas propensas a acumular agua.
Si el material del subsuelo es inestable, como es el caso de la arcilla expandida, la arena o el suelo suelto, se puede recurrir al empleo de una barrera de geotextil colocada entre el subsuelo y la capa de grava. La instalación de la barrera se especifica en la fase 2. Las áreas que abarquen el collar tendrán las mismas características que el suelo del putting green.
