On October 1, 2012, I started my own book publishing services in Spanish and English. Learn more at

I am an ATA-Certified Translator from both English into Spanish and Spanish into English. As of November 18, 2011, there are only 65 translators worldwide who hold these two certifications ( I strive to provide quality translations that can be easily understood by educated readers of Spanish or English, regardless of where they are from. Having said that, I can also tweak the style or the vocabulary of a translation to make it more targeted to a specific country or region.

I am generally not available for rush translations, as I believe that working under a tight schedule greatly affects the quality of the final product. I define as a "rush" project any translation job involving an output of more than 2,000 words per day, any same-day job, regardless of size, and any project that requires working on weekends. I thank my current and prospective clients for their understanding of these terms, and I urge anyone else who needs a faster turnaround to find other translators on this site who might be able to accommodate such requests. I am sure there are many such translators, including some who might actually strike a good balance between quantity and quality.

As noted under my standardized information, I was the winner of the First English-to-Spanish literary translation contest.

I also won the Fifth Contest with my English-to-Spanish entry...

...and became a second-place winner of
the Spanish-to-English contest.

Among other major projects, I have translated several fiction and non-fiction books, including a number of fine paperbacks for Inner Traditions/Bear & Company. Some of those titles are: "The Mayan Code," "Kabbalah and the Power of Dreaming," "Trigger-Point Self-Care Manual," "Sacred Plant Medicine," and "The Slow-Down Diet."

But I don't only specialize in Spanish↔English translation. I also offer editing and proofreading services in both languages.

For more details, see my résumé on this site or contact me personally.

As I said above, I am now accepting upfront payments only. My preferred form of payment is through the PayPal or Moneybookers websites, which safely process payments made with most major credit cards. Neither PayPal nor Moneybookers share any credit card information with me or anyone else aside from the card issuer. Moneybookers works just like PayPal. Both are accepted in hundreds of countries worldwide.

Before sending me a payment online, clients should contact me by e-mail or by phone in order to discuss the translation project at hand. Once we have discussed the amount of words, type of project, deadline, payment amount, and other details, I would e-mail the client a customized PayPal or Moneybookers invoice. This invoice would contain a direct link to those sites, allowing the client to make a secure credit card payment online.

Thank you very much,

Ramón Soto
