French to English: Excerpt from "Ressusciter" by Christian Bobin
Translation - English The linden tree’s leaves, with their outsides fresh green like milk, and their insides pale green, almost white like the cheeks of an anemic child, and the little bells in ancient gold of their flowers, are like so many lamps suspended by a thread and bobbing in the wind, illluminating the mysteries of daylight.
French to English: Poem by Robert Mallet
Source text - French Je n'habillerai plus ma peine
si décente puisqu'elle saigne.
Ma peine nue appartiendra
à qui la prendra dans ses bras,
à qui voudra que nos étreintes
de mon passé blessé soient teintes.
- Robert Mallet
Translation - English I will no longer dress up my pain
because bleeding, it will stain.
My naked pain will belong
to whomever embraces it erelong,
whomever wants our passion
by my wounded past to be fashioned.
