Zaczepilam Roberta na koncercie jazzowym dla tego ze mial bialy kij. Robert jest calkiem niewidomy, nie rozroznia miedzy dniem a noca, ale kiedys widzial wiec rozumie co to jest kolor. Na koncercie, gdy zaproponowalam mu swoj projekt- chcialam mu dac jednouzytkowe aparaty zeby zfotografowal swoj dom i ogrod- nie byl w ogole zaintersowany. Ale utrzymalismy kontakt, I w koncu sie zgodzil.
Podczas nastepnego roku, Robert fotografowal wnetrze swojego domu i swoj ogrod, miejsca ktore znal dobrze przez dotyk. Znajomosc najblizszych okolic mu dala pewnosc w robieniu zdjec, ich kompozycja jest niespodziewana. Niewidomi musza znac swoj dom dokladnie, jezeli cos nie jest na swoim miejscu, latwo sie potknac I krzywde sobie zrobic. Robert wie jak wszystko jest polozone I orientuje sie przez dotyk. Robert’s House
I accosted Robert at a jazz concert, because he had a white stick.
Robert is
completely blind, not being able even to distinguish between night and
day,
but he did once have sight, which means he understands colour. At the
jazz
concert I told Robert about my wish to give him a camera and at first
he
didn’t seen very interested. But later in a telephone conversation I
managed
to convince him to take part in the project.
Eventually he agreed to use three disposable automatic cameras in order
to
photograph his own house and garden, places he knew very well by touch
and
therefore could point the camera more confidently. He felt comfortable
doing
this because he knew the subject matter so well. The images he took
were
actually amazingly composed considering that they lacked the framework
the
eye naturally selects. Someone who is blind knows his immediate living
surroundings like the back of his hand. One object out of place means
that
they can trip over and hurt themselves. So Robert keeps the house in
perfect
order, everything has its exact and precise position in the room for
orientation through the familiarity of touch.
Every photograph I chose to reproduce on plywood has a special
reference to
the fact of Robert’s inability to see.

Source text - Spanish La exposicion va estar formada de dos partes:
Parte 1- Retratos Animados.
Tengo la intencion de crear una serie de retratos a lapiz, animados ( del mismo estilo que los retratos que has visto en www.sweatandcigarettes.com). Cada animacion mostrara varias personas haciendo varias cosas, por ejemplo diciendo “te quiero”, tomando un café, o moveando la cabeza etc. Cada vineta de la animacion sera expuesta en conjuncto de dibujos de A3 (297 x 420mm).Estas imagenes en aparencia se pareceron unas a otras, pero transmitiran en definitiva, la historia de una sola accion segun la vista las lee de arriba hasta abajo y desde la izquierda hasta la derecha. El flujo del movimiento se realisara en las animaciones que seran mostradas en un ordenador bien, en la planta baja, en sala de projecciones de la parte de atras de la galleria o, mi opcion preferida, en el bar.
Una obra final va destilar el proceso de dibujar en una serie de imagenes individuales. Cuando haga un dibujo, parare cada 15 minutos para escanearlo en mi ordenador. Cuando haga terminado, borrare el original poco a poco igualmente escaneando todo este proceso. Cuando lo imprime la obra vista en conjuncto( de nuevo en formato de vinetas ) explicare el proceso de un dibujo que ya no existira en la forma original. Tambien hare una animacion de este proceso.
Me gustaria utilizar la planta baja de Miscelanea para esta parte de la exposicion, y utilizare el primer o los dos primeros dias de las 2 semanas que dura la exposicion para colgar los trabajos. Las impresiones seran colgado en las paredes.
Translation - English The exhibition will be formed of two parts:
Part 1 - Animated Portraits
I aim to create a series of animated pencil portraits (in the same style as the drawn portraits you've seen at www.sweatandcigarettes.com). Each animation will be of different people doing different things, for example saying "I love you", drinking a cup of tea, shaking their head and so on. Each separate frame of the animation will be exhibited together in a grid format of A3 (297 x 420mm) drawings, distilling the apparently simple action into a series of regimented images. These images will superficially look like each other but will ultimately tell the story of the action as the eye reads from top to bottom, left to right. The full flow will be realised in the animations, which will be shown on a computer either on the ground floor, in the performance space at the back of the gallery, or (my preferred option) in the bar upstairs.
One final piece will distill the process of drawing into a series of separate images. As I make one drawing, I'll stop every fifteen minutes to scan it into my computer. Once completed, I'll erase the original bit by bit, similarly scanning it along the way. Once printed out, the work seen together (again in a grid format) will document the progress of a drawing that, in its original form, no longer exists. I'll make an animation of this too.
I wish to use the ground floor of Miscelanea for this part of the exhibition, and will spend the first day or two of the show's two-week run to put the work up. The prints will be pinned to the walls.

In 2008 I completed a diploma course in Public Service Interpreting and in Legal Interpreting in CALAT in Croydon. I received a Letter of Credit from the Institute of linguists (IoL) for the Diploma in public Service Interpreting with a Distinction in the written Polish- English exam. (June 2008)
I have recently been doing a substantial amount of work for a firm of solicitors in London, Osbornes Solicitors, working mainly with the Personal Injury department. As well as translation and interpreting I also coordinated a community marketing and advertising project, expanding my experience of media work.
