Senior Digital Content Editor | U.S. Department of State (2003-2014) | Washington D.C. & New York
For over a decade, was part of the team managing the entire production and linguistic quality assurance (LQA) of Spanish-language print and digital assets for the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of International Information Programs, the office responsible for creating and curating USG strategic communications for foreign audiences. Many initiatives achieved high visibility through websites and social media, and reached millions of users in Latin America and Spain.
• Managed daily translation workflow for multi-channel editorial calendar (website, video, social media), ensuring timely delivery of assets to internal teams and end users.
• Produced 1000+ publication-ready deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
• Answered requests from the White House and personally translated speeches by President Obama, as well as speeches by Secretary Kerry, and former Secretaries Hillary Clinton, Condoleezza Rice, and Colin Powell.
• After transitioning from a legacy WebGUI content management system, leveraged the efficiency of a proprietary CMS housed on an enterprise cloud-computing Salesforce platform to expand the volume of translated assets published to our multilingual website. Also gained working knowledge of the editorial back-end workflow of XML metadata.
• Performed LQA of all output delivered by primary vendor, and measured performance to ensure timely completion of tasks and strict adherence to glossaries and language style guides.
• Provided ongoing support for published assets, including fixes and source-language updates.
• Worked closely with cross functional teams, including Product Managers, Content Specialists, Language Specialists, and Operations to ensure a steady stream of compelling digital material.
• Helped optimize SEO for special events, initiatives, and targeted campaigns.
