PARTO
PARTO es una pieza que trata sobre el acto de parir.
El trabajo es un estudio sobre la mente de la parturienta, su cuerpo y las transiciones que se experimentan durante el proceso de parir: la contracción, romper fuente y el pujo. También propone el análisis sobre un cuerpo que es, por un período de tiempo, invadido por otro y como ésta invasión física afecta de diversas formas a la mujer.
A su vez intenta buscar las experiencias del otro, del observador del proceso, cuando su espacio físico y visual es penetrado por una mujer preñada.
Por la naturaleza del trabajo PARTO podria convertirse en una exposición donde se integran la fotografía, el vídeo, la escultura, el sonido, el performance y la interacción del público.
PARTO propone un analisis del proceso de mi parto y el parto de otras mujeres puertorriqueñas y canadienses. El trabajo invita a mujeres artistas de distintas generaciones que hayan parido para que se integren colaborando con la creación de un performance para la apertura del trabajo e invita también a otras mujeres a colaborar con su historia y su cuerpo en una de las piezas videográficas.
PARTO incluye foros educativos ofrecidos al público por parteras, médicos y educadores en salud.

Translation - English PROPOSAL #1
PARTO (labor/I'm leaving/I split it-or you)
PARTO is a piece that deals with the act of giving birth.
The piece is a study on the mind of the woman in labor, her body and the transitions that are experienced during the process of giving birth: the contractions, the water breaking, and the pushing. It also proposes an analysis of the body that is, for a given period of time, invaded by another, and of how this material invasion affects the woman in diverse ways.
The work also tries to explore the Other's experience, the experience of the observer of the process when his /her physical and visual spaces are broken into by a pregnant woman.
By the character of the PARTO piece, it could become an exhibition that integrates photography, video, sculpture, audio, performance, and interaction with the audience.
PARTO proposes an analysis my birthing process and those of other Puerto Rican and Canadian women. The work invites women artists of different generations who have given birth to collaborate in the creation of a performance to open the exhibition and it invites other women to participate including with their stories and their bodies in one of the videographic pieces.
PARTO includes educational forums offered to the public by midwives, physicians, and health educators.

PARTO is a regression, breaking into time and, at the same time, breaking into the body itself, the pain, the pleasure, and recreating the act, the verb: to give birth, to give you birth; to leave; to divide you in two.
For the women who give birth differently, who love differently, who suffer pain differently, who perceive differently because they are different, for you… And yet, something was the same for all of us, a body was inhabiting our body and now it wasn't, it used to be inside and now it is outside.

What is the XXXXXX?
The XXXXXX (XXXXXX) is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan, tax-exempt organization established in1968. Its mission is to reduce poverty and discrimination and improve life opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Headquartered in Washington, DC, XXXXXX has field offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Antonio, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
How does XXXXXX work toward achieving its mission?
XXXXXX works through two primary, complementary approaches:
_ Capacity-building assistance to support and strengthen Hispanic community-based organizations: providing organizational assistance in management, governance, program operations, and resource development to Hispanic community-based organizations nationwide, especially those that serve low-income and disadvantaged Hispanics.
_ Applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy: providing an Hispanic perspective on issues such as education, immigration, economic policy, housing, health, employment, and civil rights enforcement, to increase policy-maker and public understanding of Hispanic needs and to encourage the adoption of programs and policies that equitably serve Hispanics. XXXXXX strengthens these efforts with public information and media activities and special and international projects. XXXXXX serves all Hispanic nationality groups in all regions of the country through its formal network of affiliates who together serve the states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia – and a broader network of more than 00,000 groups and individuals nationwide – reaching more than four million Hispanics annually. XXXXXX welcomes affiliation from independent Hispanic groups that share XXXXXX’s goals and self-help philosophy. XXXXXX also assists Hispanic groups that are not formal affiliates through issue networks on health, education, housing, leadership and other issue areas.

XXXXXX’s policy analysis center is the leading Hispanic think tank and preeminent voice in the capital for Hispanic Americans.
