Russian to English: Pripiatsee March Detailed field: History
Translation - English
During the years of World War II, fascist German invaders had implemented more than 200 large planned retaliatory campaigns against guerilla fighters and the general population on the territory of Belarus, as a result of those hundreds of thousands people were exterminated, tens of thousands villages, hutor (farmsteads ) , hundreds of thousands private and industrial buildings were burned, demolished, turned to dust. Additionally, there were spontaneous retaliatory actions that would be taken without any reason by military and security forces, gendarmerie, police battalions and local police of order.
An analysis of the retaliatory politics of the occupation forces exhibits that its main goal was to destroy the guerilla movement, deny them the support of the locals, and take away their ability to resist. Moreover, in the process of retaliatory actions, special assignments ,stipulated by the Nazi sociopathic plans, were implemented. Special formations of SS were directly responsible for their implementation: Einsatzgruppen (intervention forces), and also SS police and military.
This article describes the first large retaliatory operation that took place in the summer of 1941, during the first month of the Hitler’s occupation of a part of the territory of Belarus.
Unfortunately, due to a array of reasons this operation, known in the literature under the code names “Pripiatsee Swamps”, “ Pripiatsee March” did not receive appropriate attention in historiography, despite the fact that by the spring of 1942 information about this operation was known by the wide international public. Moreover, in the existing publications, including encyclopedic editions, there are many inaccuracies and errors, which are repeated from one publication to another

Bio
I am bilingual and speak, read and write in both English and Russian exceptionally well. Moreover, I had a chance to integrate my knowledge of these languages professionally by working as a freelance Russian translator and interpreter for the last 16 years. I travel to Russia almost every year which allows me to keep my knowledge consistently refreshed and up to date. I have intimate knowledge of the cultural aspects and slang of both Russia and the United States. My latest projects include translation of subtitles, academic writing, audio files, websites, surveys, legal documents, marketing texts, correspondence, etc.
I have worked as in-house and contract translator at a subtitling company for over 6 years, and have excelled in that field. I have vast experience doing video transcription and video caption translation, and I am very comfortable with various types of subtitling software.
