I am 42 and living in The Hague (the Netherlands) and I have got the Dutch nationality. Since september 2007 I am a Bachelor of Communication at the ITV Hogeschool voor Tolken en Vertalen in Utrecht. This Bachelor degree includes translating from English to Dutch and the other way around, knowledge of society (UK, US and The Netherlands) and summary.
Part of the study was a work placement at a company called English Translation Services in the Dutch city of Waalwijk during which I translated texts both from and to English on subjects varying from the National Geographic to the contracts to be signed by Dutch athletes that competed in the Olympic Wintergames 2006 in Turin.
I have been working as a translator since November 2006 for an energy news agency called Energeia and I did work for a propery developer (translating a website) and an entrepreneur (translating his business plan).
I also work as a journalist and write news reports about debates in Dutch Parliament for regional newspapers, regional broadcasters and websites and was one of the co-writers in the writing of a booklet on skating routes in The Netherlands. |
