My name is Olga Soudina.
I graduated from the National Taras Shevchenko University of Kiev, department of Romanic-Germanic philology. During the last years of my study I started to work as an interpreter and translator for the Dutch engineering and consultancy company Tebodin B.V. I worked there from October 1992 till May 1995, performing different types of translations, mostly technical. At that time in Kiev it was very difficult for a foreign company to start doing business without professional help of interpreters and translators. Tebodin Ukraine started rendering translating /interpreting services to the western companies involved in various commercial and governmental projects in Ukraine. Combining positions of a managing assistant and interpreter/translator I had the opportunity to participate in different kind of negotiations on the management level.
In 1995 I decided to accept position of Managing assistant /interpreter and translator for a Ukrainian trading company represented in San Francisco. My duties were to interpret for the Ukrainian Managing director during meetings with potential partners and translate any administrative or legal documents.
End of 1995 having accepted the marriage proposal I moved to the Netherlands. In a new country my first objective was to learn the language. At the end on 1996 when I was feeling confident enough to start a career in the Netherlands I accepted the position of a telesales agent via job agency Teleprofs. Using my language knowledge I was calling customers of KPN ( vessels at sea) to interview them and identify potential customers . I managed to prove my value to KPN and was offered first a year contract and then a permanent one already in the position of International Sales Support manager.
Having spent more than 10 years in a commercial organization, I feel I reached a point in my life when I would like to revive my translating skills and start working with the languages. |
