Lived and educated in the U.K., U.S.A. & Turkey. Though not a professional translator or interpreter, I have had to deal with both as needed during my career.

Thus, from representing Petkim Petrochemical Holding A.S. in Turkish Courts as a sworn translator from Aliaga Courts, to translating the whole 80 to 90 pages of Petkim’s Annual Reports from 97 to 99 and having an academic MD wife whose publications needed proof read and naturally her academic friends heard that the publications I proofed all were accepted, I started helping them all out and ended up doing all these extracurricular jobs. Even when I was at the Boeing Co. and working for the DoD in the Turkic Countries and Afghanistan; I have had to do translations and interpret as the need came.

I have over proofed over 30 International Medical Publications as a Native Speaker and was only paid once as it was EU funded project. What is more commonly known as ‘Reduction’ in Turkey. Obviously I did all of this socially to help my wife and her colleagues. Having said all this, now that my personal business is not going as good as it used to be, I have had to take on this extra business to support my financial needs

I find it easier to translate from Turkish to English since I feel that my English is better than my Turkish. I may not be as fast as some people are but I have seen that I am more meticulous than most professional translators and that is why I ended up doing three Annual Reports. I guess being a perfectionist doesn’t always help financially but it sure does give me a peace of mind.
