Bio

With
seventeen years of experience working as a translator and interpreter for an
extensive range of international organizations, governments, and private sector
clients and with an ability to interpret and translate
from Arabic to English, and from English to Arabic, across all dialects of the
Arab World (Gulf, Levant, North Africa, Egypt)
, I believe I have
significant experience that can enrich your business.

My
name is Ed Beetar, a Syrian-American translator and interpreter. I have
provided translation and interpreting services for a wide range of high-profile
clients, including the World Bank (two interpreting assignments on
Solar/Renewable Energy, and on Accountability and Corruption
), United
Nations agencies (including U.N. Women – UNESCO – UNDP), the U.S.,
European and Gulf governments (including, U.S. Department of Energy – USAID
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
) large multinational companies
(including, Apple – Netflix – Booz Allen Hamilton – Boston Consulting Group)
and the non-profit sector (including Human Rights Watch - INEE (Inter-Agency
Network for Education in Emergencies)-
). I have provided consecutive,
simultaneous, and whispered modes of interpretating in multiple settings,
including several large, high-level conferences where I have interpreted Heads
of State, Government Ministers, and senior officials, as well as in bilateral
meetings and court hearings. I am native in Arabic (A language) and near native
in English (also A language), with good knowledge of Spanish (C language).

Working
as an independent contractor and part of translation and interpreting teams, I
have a proven ability to lead and manage large translation projects with strict
deadlines and thorough quality assurance processes. Being in this field for
almost two decades has enabled me to both understand and anticipate the client
will need; as a result, I manage projects in a way that repeatedly results in a
high level of client satisfaction and appreciation. This includes communicating
with clients, time management, and budget and financial management. Adept at
multitasking and with a high degree of resilience, I am able to seamlessly
shift from a political-intense interpreting task to an economic-centered
article to an Information Technology presentation. I am well-known for being
responsive, communicative, and attentive to details. Working with different
kinds of clients daily, with different backgrounds, needs, requirements, and
requests, has also provided me with significant experience in all aspects of
the translation and interpretation industry. Feedback from clients and project
managers attests to the fact that I do not only meet but frequently exceed the
expectations set for me.

In
my resume, you will see the wide range of clients I have worked with across a broad spectrum of development-related topics,
including human rights, energy, agriculture, financial sector development,
climate change, Covid-19 resilience and recovery, and conflict resolution and
peacebuilding
. This has served to enhance my knowledge of key development
issues and enrich my vocabulary base in this area.

I
believe my extensive high-level translation/interpretation experience for
international organizations and agencies for seventeen years would make me one
of your greatest assets and an outstanding contributor to your success. My
career to date, which has spanned two continents and involved diverse projects
and tasks across the translation/interpretation industry, would be further
advanced by working you, and I appreciate your consideration.

Please
don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
