Bio

Hi!

My native language is German and I have completed university as a M.A. (Mag. Phil. / Masters Degree) in German philology and literary studies and English philology and literary studies (University of Regensburg: http://www.uni-regensburg.de). I have also made some qualifications as Digital Media Designer at the ARD.ZDF medienakademie, Nuremberg (http://www.ard-zdf-medienakademie.de) for training purposes and practical experience. I therefore do have good technical knowledge, a broad literary, linguistic and philosophical background, and I am trained in all fields of digital media, starting from the internet and radio as far as TV, cinema, and DVD-productions.

Because of my literary education at university, my various interests (literature, video games, computers, philosophy, Japanese wrestling, …) and my experience in all kinds of media I have acquired an expressive and punchy writing style. I rewrite and rephrase my output in order to produce the best high-quality output possible, similar to a text directly written in the German language.

Before working as a freelance-translator I worked at a Digital Media Production Company for 4 years, doing all their creative writing, translations, scriptwriting, proof-reading and business communication for projects in print, radio, TV, DVD, cinema, and internet (both in the German and the English language).

I have done translations and creative writings for a broad range of projects and business partners, including loads of video games for PS3, Xbox360, Wii, Wii U, PC, DS, 3DS, PSP, PSVita, iPhone, Android, iPad, Online and Browser Games, IMAX movies, Southpark-website, Siemens VDO (Germany and England; now: Continental), Magellan, The Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, ebay, AKW Apparate + Verfahren GmbH, AKW A+V Protec GmbH, Shentloc, Google, Antarctica Films Argentina, HP, and many more. Since I spend a lot of research in the corresponding fields I work in and since I have already done some quite difficult projects in the past (Bioreactors, Biotechnology, RFID – Radio Frequency Identification, Eye Diseases, Cancer, HIV/A.I.D.S., Catheters, Solar Energy, Renewable Energies, LCD-Technology, Business Contracts, Phd. University Dissertations …) technical and professional terminology does not cause any major problems.

My main working fields are: Video Games / Computers (Software) / Computers (general) / Computers (Hardware) / Casino / Media / Multimedia / Advertising / Games / Gaming / Cinema / Film / TV.

I have done many technical translations in the past and am still willing to do technical translations, if the rate is okay (due to the increased amount of necessary research involved).

I have worked in other fields as well, but the above mentioned are my main working fields.

You can find a list of all my references and certifications in this CV and at proz.com:

My rates range between 0.06 and 0.10 Euro/source word (0.07 and 0.12 US$/source word), depending on the difficulty/use of technical terminology of the text and the volume of the job(s).

For proofreading, due to the different qualities of translations, I charge on an hourly basis. 30 Euro/hour. If I don’t have any other jobs I can translate up to 2500 words of technical texts/day, 3000-4000 words of other texts in high quality, depending on my workload of my regular clients.

You can pay me via Paypal or via international bank transfer.

Please feel free to send me a translation test, before deciding to work with me.

I work in memoQ, Memsource, Trados Studio 2021.

Have a great day and a successful week!

Best regards,
Jürgen Bullin
