Coming from a background of creative and academic writing, I made the leap (or was it more of a hop?) to technical writing in late 2002. My initial position was writing and sub-editing online training materials for retail and business training certificates. These certificates were nationally accredited by the Australian Government as well as responding directly to the specific needs of the companies who commissioned them. My duties included character development, module planning and writing, proof-reading, transcription, sub-editing and client liasion.
I moved on to a number of research assistant positions with some of Australia`s leading universities, including The University of Melbourne and The University of New South Wales. These roles afforded me the opportunity to develop my research skills, while giving me an opportunity to flex my writing muscles, delivering reports in a style of writing known in academic circles as `narrative inquiry.`
Since moving to Japan, I have branched out into the field of bio-scientific proof-reading and re-writing, which has necessitated a steep learning curve, trying to understand the crux of long statements written in `Japlish`. I relish the opportunity to smooth out a chunk of text riddled with grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, delivering a product that reads well and supports a professional corporate image.
My rates are negotiable, depending on the length of the assignment - Feel free to contact me with any questions. |
