I have worked as translator for ten years in a Bengali Translator’s Office, Govt. of West Bengal, India. I translated Legal, Administrative, Medical,Technical, Information Technology and Engineering documents in Bengali (Bangla) into English and vice versa. I had led a team of translators, actively participated in coining new words in Bengali for translation, also co-ordinated with the press. Apart from technical and legal documents I also have a flair for translating literature. I have translated quite a few books from English to Bengali and French to Bengali which will be published soon. I have done Diploma in French language from Alliance Française, New Delhi. I have experience of translating French to English and English to French also.
I worked as volunteer teacher to teach English to a group of teenage children from lower economic background in rural India. I actively participated as organiser in running an experimental pre-primary school in Kolkata, India. I also had brief but strong experience in media while I had been working as Bengali News Sub-Editor in a daily newspaper and compere in All India Radio. My exposure to all these varied experiences enabled me to understand the dynamics of language. My passion is to translate treasures of literature from one language to another.
As a translator I believe in presenting the subject from one language to another in appropriate and lucid manner, to understand the meaning between the lines and the nuance of the language, to judge the subject in its perspective and choose the words accordingly.
Presently I am residing in Australia as a permanent resident. I have achieved NAATI ( National Authority For Translators And Interpreters) accreditation as Translator in Australia.

TO ME, TRANSLATION IS NOT A MECHANICAL PROCESS, IT NEEDS BOTH MIND AND HEART TO TRANSCEND THE MEANING OF ONE LANGUAGE TO ANOTHER, TO CROSS THE BARRIER OF SYNTAX, TO TOUCH THE PULSE OF ANOTHER CULTURE, CUSTOM, BELIEF AND MYTH.IT IS ALL ALONG A HUMANE PROCESS.
