Source text - English The quantum sink, the stage with the fewest quanta (largest
statistical uncertainty), defines the limiting value of the image signalto-
noise ratio (SNR), which is no greater than the square root of the
number of quanta at that stage. Because information-carrying
quanta are lost irrecoverably in the quantum sink, amplification stages
following a quantum sink cannot improve the SNR. A well-designed
system will have a quantum sink located at the very first imageforming
stage, i.e., a primary quantum sink, so that the information
encoded in the image depends only on the number of X-rays detected
by the X-ray converter. Such a system is said to be X-ray quantum
limited. If the quantum sink corresponds to any other stage, i.e., a
secondary quantum sink, further losses of information-carrying
quanta occur in the imaging system due to the sub-optimal design,
and image quality is reduced. For example, lens-coupled detector
systems are likely to have a secondary quantum sink at the light
collection stage mainly because of the geometrical inefficiency in the
luminous flux collected over the solid angle subtended by the lens
assembly. Since X-ray conversion is the first stage in the
cascaded imaging chain transferring information to the final user, it is
the primary factor that determines the overall performance of a
detector system.

I am a technical and scientific translator with a Master's Degree in Physics at the University of Seville, Spain.
After finishing my studies in Physics, I extended my scientific training with one year post-graduate research in Theoretical Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich, and also one year at the Nuclear Physics Department of the Ludwig-Maximilian University of Munich.
Since July 2005 I have been working full-time as a freelance technical translator, and since June 2006 also as a proofreader.
As I am fluent in German and English, my professional goal is to bring this knowledge together in the translation of complex technical and scientific texts.
I consider that my most important attribute is that, being a scientist, thanks to my analytical skills and my attention to detail, I will never let any errors slip into my translations.
Unfortunately, I often find slight (and not so slight) mistakes in scientific translations and want to contribute to ending this.
Now I have eighteen years of experience in Industrial Engineering and medical equipment. I am, however, well-qualified for translating all kinds of scientific texts, and I am very cautious with the correction, fluency, and style of the target language as well.
The personal accomplishments I am most proud of are related to the aeronautical field: I have been in charge of reviewing a large project for the cockpit of a military aircraft, and I was also appointed as the evaluator of translation tests in this field. And in the medical field, have also done many translations of surgical manuals for bone implants, including spinal surgery. Both projects involved an enormous responsibility and commitment.
With a passion for mountain sports and a deep knowledge of all technologies, materials, and specific jargon involved, currently, I am looking forward to translating/transcreating in this field, too. Recently, I have taken a course on Transcreation for this purpose.
I am in the process of learning the subtitling technique as well to broaden my fields of work to the mountain sports industry or any technical field that needs this service.
